| When is it to cold to take your Yorkie on a walk? I live in Indiana and it been between 17 and 25 degrees. If I put a jacket or sweater on my dog is it safe to walk him a few blocks. He's 2 years old. If not what is the temp. that it's safe to take him out in? |

| I wouldnt' walk him too far, and watch him closely for signs of shivering. Do you have a treadmill? That would be the way to give him safe exercise. When temps. get below freezing it can damage the lungs.

| As long as he's not acting like he's freezing or anything, I think he'd be totally fine. Every dog is different, and as long as he doesn't mind, keep going. Just keep them wrapped up. I walk Jackson in 20 degree weather, or sometimes lower, and he doesn't mind at all. It's me who is freezing to death! We walk for an hour per day.

| Keep an eye on his feet! The very first sign of Riley not being able to handle the cold is that his feet get coldest the quickest. I can only keep him out about 10 mins or so, and he starts to carry one paw, and then another, meaning he's getting too cold. The sidewalk salt makes it go faster too, because it may burn your pup's paws. Keep a close eye on the pup. |
