Proden Plaqueoff Anyone ever use it? It says you just sprinkle it over their food... and I've read a gazillion great reviews on it! OK, not a gazillion... but most give it rave reviews. :D I'm really bad about brushing Jackson's teeth and I'm not really looking for a replacement, but it would be nice to have extra protection against plaque and tarter. He gets his teeth brushed about once a week along with Petzlife gel once a week. I'm starting to think I need to do the Petzlife every day (instead of just for maintenance), for however long they say, to get some plaque off Jackson's upper canine teeth. Other than that, they are shiny white. He is 2 yrs old. Or I'll use this PlaqueOff stuff every day. Apparently people notice a different within a few weeks! He doesn't have stinky breath, btw, either but I see it is supposed to help with that though. |
How about Leba III? With the money you save on not buying the Buddy Belts, you can buy this! I've been using it on Cooper for about 5 months now and his teeth look great. |
Brit, I can't get Toby to hold still to brush his teeth so I gave up on that. He had some plaque on his teeth when I got him and I can honestly say that giving him Himalayan chews has removed almost all his plaque. The vet can't believe how clean his teeth are since I don't brush them. Our other dog, Speedy has beautiful white teeth as well. I'm a firm believer in Himalayan chews............they are great and an excellent replacement to the nasty rawhide. Himalayan chews are highly digestible too. When they are chewing on them it sounds like they are rubbing their teeth against rocks. That's how hard they are. I know Ryan (YT member) sells them as I've bought some from him in the past. |

He allows me to do the Petzlife gel though, and that's why I was thinking Plaque Off would be cool because you just sprinkle it over their food. Or I could just start using Petzlife gel (since I already have it) every day until that plaque on his canine teeth scrapes off. I don't use it every day right now. Quote:

I'm thinking about trying my Sonic Care toothbrush on the dogs. :D It is really good at blasting away plaque and cleaning along the gumline. I need to buy another brush head. |
I've been using the Proden for about 1.5 years or so..? I think it's helped, although now I wish I'd taken 'before' piccies so I could really see the difference. A small jar of it is still the first jar we're using - so it lasts, lol! I give it every other day, approx. Then, we also use CET Dental chews (both types) in size Medium. |
We've been using the ProDen PlaqueOff for several months. We started using it because Iris had stinky breath. We noticed a big difference with her breath when we use it regularly. We are not very good about brushing- it's pretty rare. They get an anesthesia free cleaning every 6 months (they are not quite 2 yet so they've only had this twice). So far, they have not had much build up on their teeth. It's hard to know how much the PlaqueOff is helping though. We tried to use the Petzlife spray and they hated it too. It ended up all over their face because they fought it so much. We tried the gel too but that was only a little better. They don't have any problem eating the PlaqueOff right in with their food and it's helping with the bad breath so we keep using it. |
I have been looking at CET and Petzlife products for Maddie's teeth. We *try* to brush but end up with a frustrated mommy and a sticky Yorkie face, lol. Maddie uses rope bones and chews the way she is supposed too, when she is in the mood to chew on them, but Cooper eats and swallows them so it makes it difficult to have them in the house. I am going to check out the Proden. A bottle lasts a year!! :) That sounds like my kinda product. |
I used Plaque Off for 6 months hoping I would see a difference after reading those reviews too but I didn't notice a difference. I now use Healthy Mouth, recommended by my vet. It is put in their water and retards plaque and makes the plaque that is there softer. I also use the CET chews but may try some of the Himalayan treats. All my dogs hated the Petzlife taste and would run from me if I tried to put it in their mouth. |

Does your dogs allow to brush their teeth at all? Maddie will allow me to put a brush in her mouth but is squirmy. I am just wondering if she will let me put it in her mouth. |

Thanks for the reviews, guys. I think I might just order it and see if I can tell a difference. It's $16 on amazon with free shipping. Quote:

Thanks for giving me feedback about the Petzlife gel too. I will be ordering some of that too. |
I just took my yorkie to a Veterinary Dental Specialist and he said to never let anyone do the non aesthesia method to clean their teeth. It can send bacteria into their bloodstream and the holding them down and pressure on their teeth to clean this way can fracture their jaw. My yorkie actually had two non annesthesia cleanings in the past and xrays showed she had two fractures! I was heartbroken! |
