You are right! I forgot about cataracts. My Paris doesn't have cataracts either. I suppose if his eyes had turned white I would have thought something was wrong earlier. |
Paris seems to be adjusting well to his blindness. I still find him behind doors and stuck in odd places though! He is learning to walk on my lead instead of running "blindly" ahead. Thanks to all who checked out his blog! |
I have told on here about Tina having dementia. She is now going blind because she acts like she only sees shadows. To keep her safe we put her in a kennel when we are gone because she has had some pretty close calls. Like the recliner incident and she will get in corners and can't get out. She also shakes like when they get out of a bath and she will sometimes hit her head on things she can't see. Its just so sad but as long as she seems happy thats fine. When we start to feed her she jumps around like a puppy. All we can do is just love them and care for them until its time to say goodbye. I dread it every day. Sooooo hard and hurts so bad to let them go. |
I just read your blog about Paris. You are such a great mommy and an inspiration to others. It makes you realize how we take so many things for granted. Hugs to you and your beautiful Paris. |
Great Blog, he is a cutie..I like the path idea, I'm sure he'll figure it out once you guide him a few times;) |
Paris is getting to where he can go out and potty by himself but still needs some help finding the door to come back in. We are taking it one day at a time. Paris stays in one room mostly while I am gone so I don't feel the need to crate him. I just makes sure doors are closed to rooms he could get stuck in. Thanks for all your support! |
I love the photo of Paris with his little football.:D |
Thanks! We used to play that game everyday. Now that he can't see the football it is harder for him. But he still wants to play with it after a bath. Old habits you know! Thanks for reading the blog. |
I hope Paris is having a better day today.:animal-pa |
Thanks! Paris did have a better day today, he is still coughing more, so I'll have to get his collapsing trachea checked again at his 6 month checkup in May. I am trying to catch his cough fits on video to show the doctor. As soon as I get the camera ready he stops coughing. |
Just sending Paris a little hug today,we are thinking of him. |
Paris had a great checkup yesterday. The vet told me his murmur sounded the same and his lungs were clear. To hear him coughing in the morning, you'd think he was dying. But he said he was as healthy and doing great for a old, blind dog. |
Just been on reading his blog. I hope his sickness has stopped and his rash has gotten better. |
Thank you! He is feeling better, on the mend. The vet said he can start back on his dog food a little at a time. |
Everytime I read about little Paris, I think of my Cricket. She also was elderly, going blind (not glaucoma), had chronic pancreatitis, a collapsing trachea, heart murmur, arthritis - unfortunately poor little Paris and her have so much in common. When you see his pics though, he is such a pretty boy - other than the eyes, you cannot tell what he is going through. I am so glad Paris has you to help him in these years. I'm sure he does so well and looks the way he does because of your love and care for him. You have done such a good job caring for him! :) |
