Urgent need advice Hello, I own a mini yorkshire terrier, 12 years old, He is fine in himself, barking and playfull, but when it come to eating he struggles eats a little then is sick, lately it has changed so he can only drink alittle then starts to go limp so to speak. I have booked an appointment with the vet, but thats not for a few days, i am very worried his health, its come on so suddenly, i am fearing the worst! :( |
Hi and welcome to YT. Have you changed his brand of food latley? It sounds as if he is very weak because he is not eating and may be becoming dehydrated if he will not drink. Is there anyway you can get him to the vet sooner? I dont think you should wait. |
I'm really glad to read you're going to the vet, bc I'd be as concerned as you are, even though this could be something minor. I can't really offer an opinion about what's going on with him. Any breathing issues (short of breath etc)? His 'weakness' is only after eating or drinking? Is he swallowing harder than normal? Are his gums nice and pink/moist - or are they pale? |
RE. His gums are bright and red, he just ate his food abit better its the same food hes been on since he was about 5/6, he started drinking a little more water now aswell, its strange just a few hours ago he was unable to eat / drink now hes perking up, will still take him to the vets for a once over just incase! |
While waiting for the Vet, try to get him to lick up some Children Vanilla Pedisure (w/fiber) - it has some nutrients, etc...in it that may boost him right now right he doesn't want to eat his food. What are you feeding him anyway? |
