anyway i just pour 1 cup of dry dog food into the bowl and free feed him. He ate 3/4 of the cup...this is the first time we free feed him. He felt uncomfortable after eating a lot..should i continue to free feed him? Before the free feed i gave him 1/2 cup daily..He's 5 month old and he's already housebroken. . |

Have fun with your new puppy!! I just got my little yorkie girl, and I free feed also. He is so little, I hope that he will eat good for you. |
I started Winnie on NutriSource puppy and free fed until 5 months then she went to Wellness for small breed and was free fed. Lastly, I got a sample of Taste of the Wild High Prairie and mixed some of that in. She would pick that out right away and gobble it up. So now I have to have feeding times of 6:45 am 1/2 cup of moistened Taste of the Wild and then 7 pm 1/4 cup of Taste of the Wild dry. She loves it so much that I can't leave it out. |

How's your girl doing? And how is it with potty training when you free feed her? |
I free fed Knox. He's a year old. He weighs less than five pounds. He can be a picky eater, but the food he does the best on is Taste of the Wild. I would definitely recommend free feeding a puppy. Yorkies can be timid about eating, and they can suffer from hypoglycemia if you aren't careful. On the advice of my breeder, I added a little bit of corn syrup to Knox's water bottle and shook it up good until he was about 12 weeks old. He never had any issues with crashing. |
Okay, so I'm following your advices and free feeding my baby in the last 2 days that he's here. The thing is, he simply doesnt eat - or one or two kibbles at a time. Sometimes I'm so worried I would put some honey on my finger to let him lick it. He seems like it a lot. I called the breeder to tell her my worry, she said it's okay and he would soon begin to eat like normal. She's a reputable breeder in my city and i want to believe her words so much... |

I see my babies go by and get 1 or 2 kibbles at the time, that is one of the reasons i like free feeding they are just having a snack when they do this I have 1 that likes to eat during the night i can hear her crunching kibbles at times some like to eat when i do and will clean the bowl I have never had one to go down with low sugar :) |
