Also, one other thing I wanted to write that I forgot to add on my other post....A few months ago I was looking into the rabies exemptions and I wasn't sure if NY was a state that allowed it but it does so I printed out the exemption form and I want to bring it to Winston's vet before the end of January so she can fill it out.. He hasn't been diagnosed with anything yet but I'm pretty sure he may have early kidney disease from the results of the protein in his urine........ I'm just wondering if there's anyone else on this board that has had their dog exempt from the rabies vaccine?.. I'm guessing the vet can refuse to sign the form? That's what I'm worried about.. I really don't want to harm his immune system any worse than it is with more vaccines Thanks, Jessica |
I just wanted to say thanks for the update, and I am keeping Winston in my thoughts and prayers. You are doing a wonderful job! |
Thanks so much, I appreciate that a lot. It's just so upsetting to see that he's having these problems and to even know he may have these problems because of vaccines he received, it just makes me depressed and angry. He was really in great health till we moved to upstate NY, then going to that vet and the whole vaccine thing.. it's just a nightmare.. I know it's my fault because of my ignorance about the vaccines... and I regret that he ever went to that particular vet who obviously doesn't care about the health of Winston.. When would it ever be normal to give a 13 year old dog a DHLPP or lymes vaccine? ahh Sorry for the ranting - it's just how I feel... anyways, Winston has been with me since I was 7 years old.. and I'm 21 now. it's hard to believe that he's 14 years old.... crazy how fast time goes. I just feel so lucky and blessed to still have him with me - he's truly my best friend :) I love this message board - I've found so much useful information - Thanks again, Jessica |
Don't let the " what if I had done......" beat you up Jessica. Things happen, plain and simple. The amount of time and effort that you are devoting to Winston is truly honorable, especially for someone of your young age. You are truly an inspiration to us all. |
Thank you for the kind words. It means alot to me. It's hard for me to not be negative and I just keep dwelling on the past.. I'm going to try and have a better attitude and outlook on everything.. My mom always tells me that Winston can definitely sense my negativity and it obviously will just stress him out and he sure doesn't need any stress. I really need to stay positive for Winston.
