| Question about giving a yorkie Tums. I read that giving fruit flavored Tums to a yorkie will help prevent tears stains. I've been putting a little Apple Cider Vinegar in Jesse's water to help with stains, and it has helped, but I thought Tums might be more pleasant for him. I tried giving him one and he couldn't be bothered with it. Is it okay to put one Tum in the water in place of ACV?

| Yes, I pretty much have the tear stains under control, I'm just looking at prevention, and read about Tums

| While I do give a dog whose eyes readily water, about 45 minutes before ring time (it does prevent the watering). Tums is not something you give daily use in preventing stains

| Tums is a source of calcium. Giving one every day can mess up the critical calcium to phosphorus ratio dogs need unless it as given as a calcium supplement to homecooked meals. |

| Yes, I just did some more reading about it, and although there are many sites that suggest it for tears stains, I am going to pass on the Tums!
