| Shrimp? Last night I dropped a whole pound of cocktail shrimp (no shells) in the floor. Knox hogged a few down before I got to him. He seemed okay this morning, so I gave him a few more. He really likes them. I didn't think he'd like shrimp. He won't touch fish. I grill Talapia all the time, and he just wrinkles his nose at it. He also won't eat the Pacific Stream formula of Taste of the Wild. I even tried to give him a bit of imitation crab meat, which is made from fish, and he wouldn't even touch that. But shrimp he seems to like. Any reason I shouldn't give him a few now and then? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Rinse it very well, as it could be rather salty. Also, shrimp can contain mercury (and other heavy metals), so with humans it's recommended to have it not more than 2 times a week. I'd follow the same rule for my kiddos.

| A little known fact is that shellfish contain more naturally occuring cholesterol than any other animal so definitely in moderation. Here is an article that I found that has some good information in it. Glucosamine & Chondrotin for Dogs | eHow.com

| I think a little taste of shrimp every now and then would be OK. Everything in moderation! |

Senior Yorkie Talker | At Tess's 1 year visit a few months ago her vet said a few cooked shrimp, baked salmon or haddock or sardines in water (no bones) were fine in moderation to go along with her wellness kibble once in a while. I homecook 1 meal a day, usually chicken and rice or meat and rice. |
