| ![]() I have used Fromm's Surf & Turf for a couple of years now and I am thrilled with the results...appearance and overall health...of my girls. However, the kibble pieces are tiny (about the size of a flat pea)...which was great when they were small and for Peanut...but my girls are now on the 'plus' side ![]() I talked with a Fromm's rep and she said they don't make the S&T in larger kibble..she was absolutely wonderful and even sent me bags of each of their grain free treats and the girls love them...but I would like to give them something more than a treat or two a day to help clean their teeth. We tried the CET chews but they aren't chewers so that didn't work so well. Anyone have any ideas? Last edited by my2boyz; 11-07-2010 at 06:50 AM. |

| ![]() Kibble does not really clean teeth that much. In essence, that is like telling a human eating hard pretzels every day will keep your teeth clean... which they won't. That's been a myth for a while. It MAY help a TINY bit with scraping off some tarter, but it's not a replacement for brushing teeth and other oral care and doesn't really help teeth that much. I totally get what you're saying about the tiny kibble though. I have a 15lb boy and when I fed the tinier kibbles, I always felt like he basically swallowed them! Orijen and Acana have larger kibbles for sure. Some think they are TOO big for their little ones, but my friends 4 and 6lb yorkies eat them just fine. But Orijen and Acana are some of the bigger kibbles out there and IMO, you currently can't get much better than Champion Pet Foods in general! Wellness CORE and Wellness Super5Mix Adult also have fairly 'large' kibbles. ![]() Here's an old thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...na+kibble+size

| ![]() I understand and I'm not trying to find a 'replacement' for good oral care but the size of the kibble does help remove some tartar and it helps keep tartar from building up so quickly. I'll check out the Acana and Orijen. Do they have a grain free formula? |

Anyways, yep! The only Acana available in the US is grain-free (3 flavors: Grasslands, Prairie Harvest and Pacifica, with a new one coming soon) and ALL Orijen is grain-free. They are truly an AMAZING food, and no I don't work for them, LOL. ![]()
