1 Attachment(s) My Sadie was a show potential puppy till her bite went off. That's the only reason that she was available to me as a pet (limited registration). I'm biased but I think she's absolutely beautiful. I'm attaching a picture. My breeder and I were talking after I'd had her a while and I was describing her personality. She was lamenting those teeth because she really has that "look at me" personality. I was agreeing with her and she reminded me that "those teeth" were the reason I had her. Personally I' believe that the way to go is to get a pet quality pup from a good show breeder. The things that keep them from showing aren't generally even noticable by "normal" people. I wanted a Yorkie that looks like the standard and I believe that's what I got. Most show breeders aren't going to sell you a potential show puppy with full registration unless they know you really well. I have my boy now that my breeder trusted me with as a potential show puppy. As much as she trusts me, he is co-owned by her unless or until we decide he's not going to show and have him neutered. I respect her for caring so much about her lines. I also have no desire to get into breeding. The trust goes both ways. |

I am attaching a weekly cleaning schedule. Please only adhere to this list. And don't let Bonbon lead you astray:D |
Sadie is beautiful:) |
It is impossible for a breeder to tell if a puppy is show potential until she about six months old. Does your breeder show herself? |

Well thank you Nancy for the counsel... I will talk to the breeder and see what we need to do going forward..what her thoughts are... I think my confusion is that I would pay the same price for a pup with or without this defect.. so the pricing doesn't make sense... Its not about perfection..but aesthetics are always part of that decision making process. I was, of course, disappointed that this issue presented, but I can understand how complex it could be.. I am, as a new puppy consumer, truly looking for a quality pet to love and join the family is all. |

I wondered how she'd know whether the pup was show/breed at 9-10 weeks.. so maybe just obvious defects that would preclude them later on tlike this one..? I don't know...:scratchhe |
How well do you know the breeder?? |

Thanks sal.. I appreciate your sharing this... I too want a yorkie that looks like the standard, not perfecetion.. just quality that is why I chose a breeder who was breeding from champion lines. I think I'm just not wanting to have potential issues or an obvious aesthetic variation.. or a mini bull-dog look somewhere down the line.. ;) no offense remotely intended. :D How wonderfully helpful everyone has been....What a great community to have to turn to... wow... I certainly made the right puppy choice..:aimeeyork |

I don't know her personally at all.. Just through email, and the fact that she had Biewers.. and Yorkies.. and had some nice looking pups from her last breeds. She is trying to do the right thing I believe.. not trying to rip me off.. I am kind of afraid to talk to her about my concerns.. or if we want to look at other pups... so I am tryng to be as informed as possible about how to address my concerns.. Hence my wonderful conversations here with you good folks :animal-pa.. :) |
