| Small Town = limited dog food choices. Help me choose. I know that I don't want to feed my puppy a grocery store brand. She is coming home next week on Iams Smart Puppy and I definitely want to switch her to a quality food. So, I checked out my choices here in my small town and this is what the pet store carries: Grandma Mae's, Eukanuba, California Natural and Innova. I didn't see any of these listed on the sticky list of premium pet food. Are any of these good? Or am I going to have to order something online?

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Here is a good site for helping to compare the foods: Dog Food Reviews - Main Index - Powered by ReviewPost Just a thought- do you have a Feed Store in your area? The ones around here carry quite a few of the premium brands at really good prices. They will even special order food for me when I need something in particular.

| Ordinally I'd say Innova, but they were just bought out by P&G (Iams/Euk). None of the vets carry anything (some carry high quality brands)? I'd personally see if any of them have Science Diet Nature's Best Puppy. Or you can order online.

| Our local feed store carries some of the better brands of dog food. Do you happen to have one nearby that you can call? |

| I never thought about the feed store! I will check that out today. Thanks! The Grandma Mae's seemed to have a good ingredient list. Ever hear of that one?

| I've never heard of Grandma Mae's. Our feed store carries Taste of the Wild, which I believe is an all life stages food. I've never fed it, but think it's a pretty quality food. I am from a small town, so when I am home for the summer, I have to drive an hour round trip to get Levi's food (he eats Orijen). So I feel your pain!

| Out of those, I'd choose Innova... |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Innova is good- but I'm worried about the quality going down since it got bought out by Proctor and Gamble. Their track record is less than stellar. Petsmart and petco do let you order online and they deliver (not sure of what the shipping costs are).

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I would suggest Life's Abundance HealthyPetNet Premium Natural Healthy Dog Foods I use it for all my adults and pups. You can only get it online as they make it fresh and ship to your door. Shipping is only $7.95 no matter how much you order No nasty preservative/never been on a recall. Has worked excellent for me for over 2 years now! (you get a discount too if you use autoship) I really like it and believe in feeding my puppies the best. Quote:

| online you can always order other food from the internet. Don't limit your self by whats available in the store. look for some websites. and remember any food with grian in no good for dogs, dogs are allergic to grain. i feed a food called 'before grain' buffalo flavor |

Otherwise, there are many great websites to order from and some offer free shipping if you sign up for automatic re-order. Obviously, I wouldn't sign up for that until you know what food your dog likes. Good Luck! PS: I'm with you on the Innova. If it's now owned by P & G.....I'd be concerned. Prior to that though, it was a good food!
