[QUOTE=bettyeanne;3238789]Poor Izzy ... I'd be willing to bet that's exactly what's wrong with her. Toto gets her strip in the evening and her little system knows exactly what time! She is also very prompt. :) That's when she "dances" and she will dance like crazy for her Kona's strips. LOL After a day of no strip, she would get in my lap, put her little paws on my chest and absolutely beat on me, staring into my eyes with the most pitiful look and cry! She also lost her appetite for anything else although she has always, always eaten her regular diet and only gets her chicken as a nighttime "treat"! We developed a big hate for anything "Made in China"! When she went through all the tests, the only thing that showed up was high numbers in her little kidneys. Our vet was furious and believes, as do we, that had this gone unnoticed we would surely have eventually lost her. When her Kona's Chips come [they are shipped USPS Priority Mail or sometimes Overnite] and I immediately put them in the freezer. She loves them straight from the freezer.:thumbup: I admire those of you who can dehydrate yourselves ... I simply do not have time nor the "talent" for that sort of thing. Meanwhile, I thank God every day that we discovered Kona's and our little one is so happy with them!:thumbup:[/QUOTE/) Yup I think so too!! Izzy is the same way... This morning i gave her one that I made last night... She killed it!! she wanted more so I caved and let her have one .. She's my baby...she has me wrapped  |

I buy Dogswell brand chicken jerkie called Breathies. Made in China but sold at Whole Foods so I feel ok with buying them since Whole Foods is generally picky on sourcing and fair trade etc. Never had anyone get sick from them and they sure do love them. |

Well, we ordered some Kona's Chips so hopefully he likes them! I'm sure he will. He's never been picky about chicken jerky! |

All the ones I have ever seen at Costco are made in China. I have heard (from reps at a Pex Expo) that Dogswell follows the same standards they would have to in the US even though they are from China, but I still am not comfortable giving them to my girls. It's a shame too since so many of their products look to be healthy. |
Thank you! Thank u for posting this thread. I got chicken treats from petsmart a month ago .. my babies love them but my Lilly got sick from them! I did not see on the fine print made in chim=na until after she was sick. She was sick on her tummy but kept a bad cough for 2 weeks after. the vet said she was allergeic to the treats! I trashed them! She is better now but had to be on meds for a while. I will give them a try. She eats chicken breast all the time so I know she ok with chicken. Vet said it was something in the product it's self. I will make sure to order from this link... I had rather pay more for them then end up at the vets again. Thanks again for the post..:) |

I know the ones that I made I'm keeping in the fridge...So I think if your getting a 12oz bag I would keep them in the fridge too just to be on the safe side :) |
I make my own too, as well as beef and lamb strips. The homemade thread has some great recipes. |
I make my own also....use a food dehydrator. I get skinnless/boneless chicken breasts and freeze them till they are just firm enough to be able to cut thinly.....I normally do mine at night so that by morning they are ready to go....my little one loves them, but I love them also....so now need to make extra batches...one for me and one for lil one.. :) |
I got the Kona chips and although pricy the dogs just love them. I got two bags of the 12 oz size and keep them in the refrigerator I know with 4 dogs they won't last long. I am going to try making my own. |
