I have a 12 pound yorkie |
Over the weekend, I was at Petco to get supplies for my Tatiana. It was vaccine clinic day, and I saw a couple of big yorkies (they appeared to be over 10 lbs), and they had long tails. They were very handsome, and had big, perky ears. Tatiana is 3 lbs, and was completely dwarfed by them. :) |
Shes 16 lbs Hey I have a 16 lbs yorkie! go figure. we love her to death. she is friendly... and a good size for walking with!!! she weighed 4 lbs at 7 weeks.:aimeeyork |
My yorkie, Indy, is 12 pounds and I thought he might be abnormal, so I'm happy to have found this thread. He looks normal for his size, just bigger than the normal yorkie! |
I love my big boy Gulliver. He's a 10 pound lean mean muscle machine. Proportions the same as my five pounder, just a larger version, and he gives the best hugs. |
I am so happy to know that there are some other bigger yorkies. I was upset at first, because I thought Id be getting a tiny one, but as it turns out, she is the love of my life, (next to my husband) he hee, Gotta figure out how to post a picture of her. She is super cute! |

maddie is 11.5 (maybe less now with her new dew) but she is 14 inches long-- lean but sturdy and healthy. my biggest pet peve about a larger yorkie--everyone ask what kind of dog is that???? i reply a yorkie----ohhhhh shes mixed with something? NOOOOO shes a purebreed. most then reply --the ones i always see must have been a teacup--cuz they only weigh a couple pounds. yokies are like people----they come in all sizes. i have 5 labradors and maddie rulez the pack--and im still over protective of her around them-- -i couldnt imagine having a smaller yorkie---love her for who she is--and not what she isnt;) |
Our Ginger is between 10 and 11 lbs and is solid as a rock. Maggie is a little smaller, but still about 8 lbs but not nearly as solid as Ginger. We had a neighbor that insisted Ginger was not a Yorkie, but a Silky because Yorkies don't get that big. I put pictures on some Yorkie sites, including Yorkies.com, and had a couple vets all say that she is definitely Yorkie. None of the groomers we used questioned her being a Yorkie either. In fact most people like Ginger's size. Our old mobile vet said he'd like to find a Yorkie her size because he thought she was the perfect size for a house dog. The papers for both dogs say they are purebred Yorkies. |
WOW, there seems to be a lot more "hefty" boys and girls out there than I thought. You guys know there's a "TeaPot" Club and Thread. Just in case someone has missed them, they're at... Have a good Day ! :) S.W. |
