| Puppy food vs. Adult food Hi Everyone! I am new to the boards and I have a couple of questions. I have a 1 year old male and a 12 week year old female. We just got the female about a week ago and she was eating her food just fine but not eating as much as I thought she should eat. We started off by feeding the older dog first and when he was done we would feed her. She recently got a hold of some of this food (Purina Pro Adult for toy breads) and loved it. She now only wants to eat the food he eats. I try to mix her puppy food (Science Diet, which is what she was eating before and I don't think I will keep her on that) so that she will get some puppy food but she eats so much better when his food is mixed in. Is is ok that she eat adult food? She hasn't been sick, but she is not as active as she was when we first brought her home. She tends to lay around and sleep a lot more. Is this something to worry about? Thanks for your help! |

| First of all..welcome to YorkieTalk. You might want to think about changing both of your foods to a better quality. Here's the link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-samples.html Science diet is not very palatable. Many of us start out feeding Science Diet because that is what our vets carry. I became more educated once I joined YT. Hope someone else jumps in and helps you with the question about your puppy eating adult food. I think that it is important that your puppy eats food that is made for younger dogs, but let someone else confirm that. ~Joanne~

| I would check out dogfoodanalysis.com and pick a new food for both dogs. You may find that both of them perk up a bit on a different food. As for the pup wanting to eat the adult food....well, don't we always want what we can't have!? LOL!!
