Spike has been on Acana small breed for about a year now, and he loves it. It is by far his favorite. I'm lucky because they are based in Morinville, Alberta, which is only about 30 mins away from me! |

I personally as a dog owner LOVED the quality of Acana, my dogs also enjoyed the taste. We had tried the chicken and lamb based flavors. However, 3 out of my 4 dogs ate it and couldnt tolerate it. (My sheltie on a prescription diet). Nor can they tolerate any food with a protien level higher than 28 percent. All 4 dogs are different breeds, different sizes and have different activity levels and everyone of them had different issues. Tucker ended up so sick we had to put him on a prescription diet for awhile. Now he cant tolerate anything over 21 percent. We are right now trying California Naturals (also made by the same company as ACANA) new grain free line and it seems to be working out well. Anyways.. off track as usual..lol.. I think its a great food, great company and if your dogs can eat it.. have at it..!! :) |

California Naturals though is made by Natura, who was just bought our by Proctor & Gamble (makers of Innova, EVO, etc). |

Wow. Maybe I should start an export business, then! |
How much? I purchased a bag of Acana Grasslands today to try on Maximo. Now all I have to do is determine how much I should feed him compared to the Fromm. We will do the slow transition between foods. How much Acana do all of you feed and how much do your pups weigh? |

So news, I had to pull Zhoie off the Acana. Even though we did it gradually, once she was fully on Acana for a few weeks, she could not do her easily. It was quite hard and a real stuggle for her. I believe the protein was simply to high for her. Needless so say, she is not all that active, very much a mild, mellow girlie. |

I gave Max a grand total of 7 Acana kibble this afternoon & evening and he is wired. Coincidence? He has always been active, but never hyper. |
I can't really answer your q bc I mix the Acana w/NB SP&Venison. Mimi weighs 7#'s, Momo & Turbo 6#'s, lastly Princess is 5.5#'s. I feed them all the same amount, 3/4 cup split into 2 meals. The boys always want to eat more, but I can't feel their ribs...they're so heavy & chubby for their size. They also make widdle piggie grunting snorting sounds lol. The girls are nice & slender tho.:p They all get daily walks & gets the zoomies couple of times a day. I guess the amount would depend on their energy level? @Zhoie's mommy, sorry she was having problems w/Acana. I actually use a cough syrup cup. I give them 1 cup of Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Venison & 1/2 cup of Acana Grasslands. Princess has a very sensitive digestive system, her #2 will have little bit of blood in it or be on the soft side if she's stressed or eats something that doesn't agree w/her. When I made the slow switch completely to Acana, she couldn't handle it, so I'm mixing. Plus, I had 2 HUGE bags of NB left lol, so it actually worked out well. Hope you'll find a good solution for Zhoie. |

I hope switching from our current Fromm chicken to the Acana Grasslands isn't the problem -- mixing 2 radically different foods. :p |

Maybe the higher protein level is giving him more energy. As long as it's not from a low quality food to a premium one (which they'll need 14+ days), they should be fine. Any bad sign will come out in their poopies.:D |
