Vasectomy for dog?

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I had never heard of it and was furious when I heard what they had done. My daughter's boyfriend is just 18 and he went into the vet not knowing. I am really wishing I would have went with them when they took him in. I just never dreamed they would do this.

You mean he asked for one, and they didn't correct him? I would call the vet, many people use the wrong terminology, but a good vet should be aware of this.

Well, due to the circumstances i think it is worthy if you get on the phone and talk to the vets that performed the "procedure" , make sure the dog was neutered ! and find out what really had happened in there.

Years ago I had a litter of Irish Setters and gave my then bf now dh pick of the litter. Of course he chose the largest/beefiest male. Well as it turns out Joshua was Cryptoid and I do believe that he was mentally challenged as well. Anyway, when it came time to have him deballed, the bf now dh couldn't harbor the idea of him losing his "man toys" so we taked our vet into doing a vasectomy -- he removed the retained testicle and then just did a snip snip on the other. I wish I had known about Neuticles - Neuticles.com - back then .

I would not recommend it - I admit it was a mistake -- Joshua would have made a much better pet without the male hormones raging through his 100+ lb. body.

Hehehe... a good friend of mine is going through the same situation... her kids got a "shihtsu" boy for a gift ... her husband is feeling "bad" about taking the jewells of the boy out ! Man aggravate me sometimes... she is a clean freak and already told her hubby she is going to advertise him on Craigs list if he insistis on keeping "the Jewels" ... hehehe...

I did ask my girlfriend husband ... his explanations did not convince me or made sense to me...
By the way, his cousin had a litter and gave them the baby shih... who is the cutest !
But i can see him out of the door any minute if he starts marking ... kkkk...

I've never heard of this. Can't make sense of why.
Are you sure they didn't only do only blood work for the neuter?
Is there actual stiches?

I argued with ex-bf about this but since Kaji is mine, all mine, he was neutered. Kaji is a much better behaved dog than his family's dogs and he even confessed that he preferred to be around Kaji than his own dogs.
