| Question about Royal Canin Ok, so we tried all kinds of food for Roxie, and some she either disliked and wouldnt touch, or some that just werent good for her. Here is my dilemma, I know that Royal Canin isnt the best food in the world, BUT she seems to love it and it seems to agree with her. Her eyes are pretty and clear, no more eye boogers, etc. So my question is this, if this food agrees with her and she likes it, do you see any reason to change even though its not a top notch food? if you do recommend something else for picky dogs what would it be? Thanks again. |

| I'm having the same problem with my Daisy. Her breeder had her on Royal Canin and then I started researching and tried other brands but she doesn't eat them....My vet says to keep her on it but I feel like a bad Mother not feeding her the best food possible. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Royal Canin is a medium rated food, but it's the highest rated that Joey would eat. After he was older, he didn't seem as fussy and I was able to find a higher rated food that he would eat, but he begin experiencing lots of eye drainage, I mean really bad runny eyes with brown goop, after only three days on the new food, I switch back, and his eyes cleared up, but it took about 1 week. I later tried the new food again and the same thing happened. I feel bad about not giving him a high rated food, but he's doing so well. He never has runny eyes, his teeth/breath are great. He never has gas, diarrhea, vomiting, or any itchies. His poop is small and firm, and his hair is gorgeous. So while the websites don't give RC 5 stars, I think I do! He really does love it, I use it for training.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah, I could have kicked myself for switching after seeing his eye drainage, but then I test it again because I just couldn't believe the new food could be causing that much of a problem! Anyway, don't think I'll switch again unless he's having a problem.

| Hmmm! I never equated eye "drool" to food and neither has the vet. This gives me pause to think that maybe the change in food from Royal Canin may be to blame. My vet never made the suggestion to change from RC but I was worried Tensley wasn't getting the best nutrition his little body needed. I may have to switch back and see if it makes a difference. Thanks!

| My two puppies did well with this food. The one food they have not really cared for is Nutro. Both were on this food when I bought them and gradually switched them to a couple other foods that they love. My Pomeranian puppy is my picky eater. So, I have been told to use this "gravy" that is found in the pet stores that encourages him to eat. He gobbles all of his food down when I use this. My yorkie was picky at first. She is not longer picky. |

| This is very interesting! Holiday was on Royal Canin when we got her and she loved the stuff! Never had a problem with anything. We then fed her Neutro because I thought it would be better for her but she didn't like it, so we switched to Blue Buffalo and she had so much eye goop! Now she is having skin allergy propblems, so she is on Natural Balance venison and sweet potato. I'll have to pay closer attention to her eyes now! |

| Yes, this was in her Blue Buffalo. At first I didn't know it was part of her food because it was always on the floor, and I thought it was dirt, lol. Now I'm wondering if she was picking it out because she didn't like it... |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Lol, I've read that other dogs wouldn't eat the brown stuff, but Joey ate it, I mean it by the third day his eyes were horrible!
