Can someone advise correct dosage of revolution My daughter purchased revolution (selamectin) for me last night. Unfortunatly it is the 85.1-130 lbs in weight package. My vet is closed Friday and obviously not open Sat and Sun. I do not want to wait until Monday as my mother in law is coming with her pets this weekend and I don't want any chances of fleas on my babies  My babies are 2.5-5.5 lbs in weight and the babies (7 weeks old are about 1 lb). Anyone have the breakdown for smaller weights that uses the bigger package of revolution?. Thank you:animal36 |

With one this small I'd call your vet or another one that's open on Friday - especially with little puppies in the house someone here can probably help you but I'd be hesitant to offer that kind of advice even if I knew it for fear it was wrong |

Actually, a copy should be in the package. |

someone check my math please Thank you..it looks like dogs 0-5 lbs =.125 ml and 5.1-10 lbs is .25 ml It is 3.0 ml (360 mg) in each single tube. can all you math gurus check this for me. i stink at math:confused: |

i did call my local vets between 8-9 two said they do not carry revolution one said i would need to be a client and access my records :( |

did you get .25 for 5.1-10 lbs as well? I am going to put a single tube in a vile and then disperse the correct dosage from that point. the vile will contain 3.0 ml (360 mg) |

I don't know where you got the above, but if it says dogs 0-5 lbs get .125 ml then you really will have an issue getting that out of a 3.0 ml vial. In saying it like that there is nothing to do math about....it means .125 of the vial. Period Now...if you get a dosage of so many mg per lb then you can figure it out by dividing 360 mg into 3 ml to see how many mg are in a ml. In other words.....120 mg are in each ml. I am going to advise you the way others have: You really need a vet to tell you! I have seen disasters with people trying to self medicate their pups without the advice of a vet. |

Please be careful with this. |

you can also call the manufacturer on the box they have vets on staff to advise on their product if your vet does not carry it. I do this all the time with medications as i want the straight scoop from the manufacturer that makes the products and i ask for any adverse reactions reported as well so i know what to look for. |

If it is just for fleas why not frontline plus and get the right doseage and return the unopened box. Revolution is much stronger as is used for more than just fleas for things such as scabies and heartworm. Just a thought. I personally would not try to dose this down as that could be dangerous with your small babies |

If your mom's dog has fleas why would you allow her to bring it over and take the chance of having fleas inside your home? |

I just read the PDF and all the way down at the very bottom it says there is a different RX for puppies. |

Sorry, forgot to state that the dosage is 2.7 mg/pound (on the box). My numbers and math actually came from my vet (also on the box). This is the product I use all the time on my dogs and cats. There is a chart on the Product Info sheet. The reason I posted here at all was to be sure the OP knew the difference in the strength of the product (120mg as opposed to 60mg). Also states "for use on dogs at least 6 weeks of age" on the box. And yes, on the chart inside the box it states to give dogs weighing 5.1-10 pounds .25ml of 120mg/ml potency, which is 0.125ml or 0.125cc which needs to be taken out of the 3ml tube with an insulin syringe. |
