I totally agree, but how many people come home and measure out all the doses? I imagine at least half the people may get home, measure out 1 dose, apply it to one dog, then measure out the second dose, apply it to the 2nd dog... and then realize they don't have enough to do the last dog.
I just hope and pray she hasn't used it yet, and calls her vet to verify.

OP: You really need to go to a vet for these things. No clue where the Revolution was purchased and that is worrisome enough without even thinking of you trying to calculate dosages.

Okay, gotcha. Sorry I try to be too helpful, bc some ppl will dose regardless... at least my math is right... but I understand now (finally) what you mean (intend). I will ignore these questions in the future. Thanks. :D

Oh, you were probably giving correct information...the problem is that not everyone is and it just boggles my mind. People read these things and who knows how much they read....do they take one opinion and use it? The right or the wrong one? That's my point. Scary.

I saw someone correct someone the other day on another thread and the person said...oh thank you so much....Now I know that the other person was wrong...I KNOW that you know what you are talking about"". I nearly choked...what makes one more right than the other? People just want to believe what they want to believe. Someone tells them they are a rocket scientist and they believe it. Ya know?

I hope the OP didn't dose her dogs with this. There are reasons why every company sells flea, tick, heartworm meds for different sizes. What is going on here is part of the big warning the USDA sent out earlier this year regarding medications. Do NOT try to dose your pets on your own.

You can get over the counter flea meds for today that will be the proper dose. Go to your vet to get a prescription on Monday.

Did they give you a syringe and show you exactly how much to apply?

Yes sorry I wasn't by the paper she wrote down it is 0.15cc I had DH looking at it. Again sorry

Placing decimals in the wrong place can be the cause of huge errors. :(

No problem, just wanted to make sure you had the right dosage. Didn't know if you or your vet made a mistake.... Glad it was you... I'd hate to lose confidence in my vet! (or his techs). But, it does happen best to be sure and safe. :D

you might want to read this as i double triple check on meds and why i tend to get direct from vet not techs and get from manufacturer as well and i check with human pharmacist on drugs used in humans and dogs. You can never be too careful with a toy breed

TLC, Myself and LADYMOM are on top of meds for our dogs - what about the pet owner that is not or we got the drug the first time and did not know any better?

My Vet said Revolution is not made for small dogs. I wouldn't use it as I'm not sure adjusting the dosage is safe. Can you get some Fronline or Advantage tonight and take the Revolution back?? OR you could always get some natural flea spray for them until you can get the right stuff. Why do your mother in law's dogs have fleas??

Makes me wonder what your vet is up to?

Revolution is made for dogs and puppies from 6 weeks of age and older, and for cats and kittens, 8 weeks of age and older.

I read that article, but I got that they are more concerned with how the dog and cat packages are too similar, dosing instructions are not clear, and people using dog products on cats, and that the companies will be offering more appropriate dose sizes, so one doesn't have to treat a 2 lb dog with a dose for a 20lb dog.

Revolution has a dose for up to 5 pounds, Frontline's dose is for up to 22 pounds.

Revolution also prevents heartworm, so I don't have to give an additional product for that.

My vet sells me the larger doses to break down for my dogs and cats, and has instructed me specifically how to do it. And I understand completely how to do it.

Anyone who is confused or thinks they need help, should ask to speak to their vet again, or have them watch you measure out and apply the dose while you're in the office, under supervision.

I wonder why your vet said that?:confused: Prince has used Revolution for a while and we have had no problems.

Thank you for all the kind replies pertinant to my question. My vet (where it did come from) did finally call me back after I left voicemails later that day. Which was very nice of her, since she was on a 3 day vacation. My daughter made the error in picking up the larger box at close of business that day. She has a large breed dog, so I don't think she mentioned it was for yorkies :eek: Either or..the correct dosage was .125 ml for under 5lbs and .25 ml for 5.1-10 lbs, per my vet. She also said it was wiser to get the larger amount since I cut my costs significantly LOL. She said it is simply a marketing technique to buy smaller amounts for smaller dogs. Your math (KJC) was correct. Thanks again. I usually use advantage, but opted to switch after hearing many good reviews from my vet and others. I just use a monthly protection and it keeps me from having to use the heart guard as well. One sort of multi medicine. Anyway first month of use and so far so good. Thank you again for all the kind reviews that answered my question :) I don't advocate anyone else doing that, check with your vet! :animal36
