| Doggy "multi-vitamin?" I am looking for a "daily multi-vitamin" to give both my yorkie (6yrs) and bichon (2yrs). The yorkie has LP stage 1 or 2, no pain, no limping, as of yet, but you can hear a slight cracking noise every time she stands. The bichon is VERY active and I have read they can get LP's as well. As I have been reading through threads, I have seen a recommendations for Cosequin...is this safe to give dogs on a daily (preventative) basis? For how long? Years ok? Any other suggestions for a glucosaminic type medication? |

| Cosequin is a glucosamine supplement. If your Yorkie is on a good quality commercial diet, she doesn't need a daily multi-vitamin. We only add those if we homecook. |

| Mine get Dasaquin... My Chloe has grade 1 LP and I give it to Armani as a preventative only to keep his joints healthy. I give the maintenance level which is 1/2 tablet per day.

| " I have seen a recommendations for Cosequin...is this safe to give dogs on a daily (preventative) basis? For how long? Years ok? Any other suggestions for a glucosaminic type medication' I love Cosequin I have had Pnut on it for about 6 months now. I first started seeing signs of limping So I took him into the vet and sure enough he has stage one on the right and stage 2 on the left, the Vet said no need for SX as long as I start him on the Cosequin and Omega 3 and 6. I started him on it right away. I give him 1 pill in the morning and 1 pill at night. He doesn’t limp at all!!! I then thought to start giving him 1 pill the whole day, and he started to limp so I put him back on 2 a day. I got the Cosequin at EntirelyPets Discount Pet meds Pet Supplies & Flea Medicine for pretty cheap. I got his omega 3 and 6 at Petco. Its liquid in a bottle that I squezze on his food. I give that to him about twice a week. I also give him a multi vitamin I got at Petco.. Its like a AKC mulitivitamin.. nothing special.. I give that to him about 4 times a week. \ I would really start them on the Cosequin, if you know for sure it is LP its not going to hurt them. It will improve and help them a lot, but always talk to you vet and see what they say to do!

Do you use the capsule or the chewable tablet? Also just the Cosequin and not the Cosequin DS correct? From what it looks like the DS is for dogs over 25lbs...? | |
