Non-Chemical flea/tick treatment? Elliott is five months old (he's my first dog) and now that spring is here I want to get him started on a flea/tick treatment. The problem is, I'm really nevous about using Frontline, Advantix, etc., because of all the horror stories out there about adverse reactions. I'm probably just over-reacting...my girlfriend calls me "Dr. Spock on speed" because I'm always researching every little thing that happens to my puppy. But nevertheless it's a concern. My questions is, can anyone recommend an 'all natural' flea/tick repellent? I'd like to get him started on something soon, just in case. Thanks. |
We've been using frontline on our three dogs since they were little tots. Barney and Daisy are almost 10 and we've never had any issues. I know that peppermint, lemongrass, and geranium essential oils are said to repel fleas and ticks but I've never tried these on my dogs because dogs are sensitive to essential oils so I worry about spritzing my dogs with these solutions or putting drops of essential oils on their collars. I am not sure how much etc so I just stick with frontline. We have ticks in our area so I don't want to risk it. Maybe this can give you a start in researching some natural flea/tick repellant ideas. |
This was discussed on another thread recently, you may find something here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...eas-ticks.html |
