I think it's good to take a list of questions, if there is something that concerns you. We often forget when we are there, and sometimes vets might make an appointment short because there have been emergencies that day, but I've found my vet throughly answers all my questions.

yes, i find it very difficult to go to a different vet.

i just don't think different vet will make a difference. i don't think most vets even spend as much time as we do researching all about yorkies/dogs.

i found my vet through the rabbit rescue that he volunteers his services for, and i checked his reviews online, and there are so many wonderful reviews about him online.

how did you finally find a vet that you feel is very competent?

i do make a list, but i think i just have too many questions. (you know how i am)

i try to make sure he answers all my questions, so i often cut him off if he is talking too much about things i don't need to know or already know. hehe.

he tells me i am a very good dog owner and that i inspired him to be a better dog owner. (and he started bringing his dogs to work instead of leaving them home)

lol, I'd feel the same. But it would be really telling actually. If he doesn't want to take anymore time, then you have your answer, I think...

well, i think he does want to take more time, he just have more time to give. it's his own clinic, and he has 2 vet tech, and a staff. so i think he needs to see enough people to make enough money to pay for everything/everyone and pay himself.

well, when i got milu, she is my first dog, i didn't know ANYTHING. in my first visit with milu, the vet was going over how much i should be feeding her daily, just really really basic stuff.

but after owning milu for 2 years, i feel like an 'expert' sometimes when i go to the vet's office. i feel like i know a lot more than they do about nutrition and stuff like that.

my vet told me milu has grade one LP, then he told me she had grade two, and he told me no need for supplement, but i looked on YT for info and gave milu consequin, you were one of the people that helped me with that question almost a year ago i think.

and now, he says milu has grade one LP. and i told him that he said grade TWO last time, and he was like "did i say that?" :D lol

Wow, that's so wonderful! I think he will become a great vet because he's constantly learning, it's when they think nobody can teach them anything, you have to be careful. You should feel really proud of that!

Weeeeellll, I went through about 5 vets :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: first. And a lot of misdiagnoses. And being ticked off.

At that point, I went to a Vet Derm (both boys) - this was the start of Wylie being Dx w/ Atypical Cushings and Hypothyroid (um, when his last vet said he was *totally* fine :mad:) and Marcel was started on Atopica for allergies (when the last vet told me he could not be on Atopica, period :mad:). From there, I had to see an Internist for Wylie.

From there I needed to find a new generalist though, so I did some searches online "best vet in Phoenix" and looked at some of our local "Best Of" lists. Then I also remembered a clinic I had first brought Wylie to when we first came here. I called there on a few different days (it's a muti-vet practice) and asked different receptionists for vet recommendations -- and also asked to speak w/ a tech. I asked a lot of different questions, and then decided, based upon all that I had looked into. At this practice, there are 2-3 vets that I really like, but I see one in particular and she is really great - Wylie is a frequent flyer, of course, w/ having Atypical Cushings.

thank you. it does feel good when he tells me i am a good dog owner. i try really hard with milu and davinci, and it's nice to hear something like that from the vet. :)

i like my vet, i bring them xmas cards and pictures of my fur-babies on holidays. everyone at the clinic loves milu and davinci because i try to bring them over there to say hi when they don't have appointments. (to get the dogs used to going to the vet without something bad happening to them) :D

i just get frustrated when i feel like my vet doesn't know as much as i think he should...

It great that he thinks you're a good dog owner, but I meant that he said "that i inspired him to be a better dog owner." To inspire someone else to do better is such a great thing. You're his "muse." :D
