Mine all love Life's Abundance. Puppies and adults. I've tried others but they will only pick out the Life's Abundance food and eat that LoL

Why don't you want to feed him real food? It's the best, healthiest and safest way to feed your baby. Would you eat kibble? I find it funny that some kibble is listed as natural, holistic and such. It's not. There is nothing natural about brown dried pellets made from things you don't want to think about. I find it wonderful knowing exactly what my girls are eating.

Samy was eating Royal Canin when I bought him but he was scratching himself a lot (perhaps allergies to the corn and other grains)... then I switched him to Eukanuba for a very short time and started mixing his food with Nutram but Nutram mini bites which is absolutely Grain Free. There is several types of Nutram food but I use the whole line which is MINI BITES and absolutely Grain Free.. has Chicken, whole potato, salmon, other fish stuff...

Point being, when I first started introducing Nutram to Samy i used it as a treat as I had a little sample bag... HE WENT NUTS OVER IT!! Loved it soo much.. so I started feeding him this and he eats his entire plate... He would eat the other food only when he was starving and there was nothing around but he goes crazy over the Nutram mini bite for Puppy.

Nutram is also in a nice bag which zips up - really nice and where I buy it (I live in Europe at the moment) it is not expensive as it is not advertised so much. Royal Canin and Eukanuba are expensive (and really not so good considering their ingredients).

Anyways... all other foods listed by other posts are GREAT but they are not offered where I live so I went with the Canadian brand NUTRAM. Love it that it is grain free.. no allergy symptoms..

Actually I have tried Kaji's kibble. It's not bad! ;) They taste like those crackers that people put in soup with a little chickeney taste. He's on Lotus chicken flavor and if I dare switch to a different flavor for variety, he will not eat it! I tried and ended up going back a week later to exchange lamb for chicken. While I understand we can't always trust the labels, not all of us know how to balance their diet, or could afford to go to a doggie dietitian to learn to balance their meals. I took a class with a human registered dietitian, and while what I learned I can't apply to Kaji, since his dietary needs differ from my own at least if in the ingredients listed I see something that is bad, I avoid it. The foods out there that have a greasy feel have ingredients that reflect all the bad fatty fillers. I do my best and picked a food that I wouldn't mind putting in my own mouth. How many people can say that?:)

I wanted to add that for treats I use fresh veggies. I haven't found a treat I would be willing to spend money on.

Does it say "human-grade"? That greasy feel is the rancid restaurant greese they spray on the kibble because it smells so horrible, and to entice dogs to love it.
Dogs now days are nothing like a wolf. They have been domesticated for so long and bred down, out, and every which way so much, they are in no way anything like their ancesters, therefore they can eat differently. No studies have ever been done on dog nutrition and what they need and don't need. All I can say is what works for my dogs, and what I've seen work for many, many others. ;)

Actually, wolves are pretty much the same species as the domesticated dog... they are a subspecies of the wolf. They are also physiologically and anatomically the same, sharing 99.8% of the same DNA. The differences in appearance and size are accounted for in that less than 2%. Even wolves and coyotes differ by about 6% in their mitochondrial DNA. Dogs are pretty much domesticated wolves.

Sophie does well on Merrick. If you try it again make the gravy (just add a little warm water to the dry kibbles). Also they make great canned food that I sometimes mix in with the dry kibbles. Plus they make great treats too.

It does say human grade food, and it does not have greasy stuff. It's baked and more like little cookies. There is no rancid geese in it.

Ooh...you mentioned Orijen! I've been looking into that (just got a yorkie pup) and thought it seemed to be the way to go but then I read some reviews which said it's no good for toy dogs as they're too far removed from wolves so they can have problems on it. I'd really love to feed my little pup on something that good but I'm not sure whether to go for it or not. Over in the UK we've not even heard of many of the foods that have been mentioned on here. I've now got my pup onto James Wellbeloved which is one of the best foods we can get...it's hyperallergenic, etc. But I'd love to try Orijen. Does anyone have any experience of feeding their yorkies on it?

I so WISH my girl liked her veggies. I've tried to give them to her every way possible. Steamed, steamed n frozen, but unfortunately she won't touch her veggies. She hates them with a passion, everything from carrots to green beans. She doesn't like blueberries or apples either. :(
