| Fleas! Haven't been on here in ages! What's the best way to fight fleas? It is an ongoing battle for us; we go to Parks a lot. We use Frontline but that doesn't keep the fleas OFF of her! When she picks them up, how do we get rid of them? Cherie is 3 years old & has a bath once a week. All advice welcome! |

| I just bought a holistic spray, to put on my kidz, when we go to the park, but I haven't tried it yet...It's got rosemary and cedar oil in it...I'm not sure how they're going to like the smell (it's pretty strong of cedar), but it's supposed to repel fleas...Direcs say it can be used w/spot on's too, but I'm not using anything, right now...I saw the first flea, yesterday, and in the bath they both went...I love spring and summer, but omg'sh to I hate the fleas!!! I had to break down and use frontline plus, last July, August, and September, and I hated that! I see the government is going to start requiring better regulations on spot ons, due to all the problems, w/smaller dogs... |

| Fleas don't live on the dog but in the carpets, furniture, etc. I regularly steam clean my home and that tends to kill off any little critters. The alternative is to regularly use chemical treatments but you have to make sure you get right down into the sofa and under the edges of the carpets, etc.

| I have read that if your dog picks up fleas try bathing them in the orginal blue bottle of Dawn and it kills the fleas. Worth a shot for a couple of dollars. I have a bottle of it on hand in case of emergency. |

| This works good... I have used this method many times... you need to scrub them very good and really rinse them off well... then give them a good brushing!

| i use food grade diatomaceous earth on my 3 yorkies. It works great! i just dust them with it before i take them out and the fleas and ticks don't touch them along with all the other bugs that like to bother my dogs. i also dust them with it after coming home just in case but there's no need for it. my oldest yorkie used to get fleas and ticks all the time and nothing else was working. i've been using diatomaceous earth for over a year now. i also give them a teaspoon of it every so often as it's also a natural dewormer and completely harmless to our pets :-) |
