food does anyone elses yorkie get a piece of food walk away from the bowl eat it then repeat the process? |
Hiya, Yes, Max does this every now and then! Not sure why though! It's very cute! :D |
Every meal... every day... without fail. Roxy will even pick out certain pieces, lay them on the floor next to her bow & eat it from there. She's very meticulous about it, but it's an everyday thing with her. |
Yep, it's an everyday occurrence at my house too. Twinkie is so picky. I have never had a dog like this before. Leave it to Yorkies!;) |
Both Bailey And Layla do that! Its very cute! |
Yes..all the time! |
I home cook, so all three of my Yorkettes faces never come out of their bowl till every crumb is gone........BUT, my Papillon, well now there's another story!! She takes a bite or two, leaves, goes and sits down awhile, comes back and takes another bite and leaves. This keeps up till she's finished. |
Mine and my friends Yorkies both do this. We were just talking about it the other day. How funny is that. I think they are worried they might miss something if they stick to the bowl too long, ha. |
Yep, all the time! I wonder if their legs get tired?:) |
This is one of the characteristics of a yorkie. They love to be with you while they eat or in the main area with everyone else. Also don't be surprise if they play with their food - toss it up in the air and go after it (that is the dry food). I love it! I would not want to change this. |

Paige also likes to take a bath in her water dish!! LOL!! |
All of my dogs have always done this..not just the yorkie. It's entertaining..isnt it?? :p |
My Bailey does it as well. The funny thing is if you spill some food on the floor she will not eat it. She has to be the one to take it out of the bowl and place it on the floor. |

maddie does it everyday--every meal---silly little girl:) |
June does this when I feed kibble. She'd pick up one piece of kibble and walk all the way from the kitchen to the living room, chew the kibble for about 5 seconds and then walk back again. My parents' staffie also does this, but she takes a mouthful and then walks all the way to the other side of the yard to eat it. She spits the kibble out onto the grass, lies down on the grass as if she was enjoying a leisurely feast and then a little while later she does it all over again. Too strange. Cash is the only one who plays with his food and only with big cookies. I love watching him do this, it's so cute. |
really i hate it freakin drives me nuts i donno one of those things i can put her food bowl right beside me and she still does it ..it was kinda funny this morning she was making a circle...mommy bowl cat mommy bowl cat |

Bandit will do it occasionally, and if Nala catches him doing it she rushes to get it as it falls out of his mouth and eats it!! |
Daisy doesn't know how to eat any other way! Take a bite, walk a few steps, see what momma is doing, chew the bite, watch food fly out the side of her mouth, eat the bits off the floor, and start over! It is so nice to know we are not alone! :goodpost: |
Yep. Its the only way Lexee will eat, but she grabs a few peices at a time and then drops them on the carpet and eats that way. She usually only makes 2 trips to the bowl at a time. I call it "snacking". Tucker will eat from the bowl but sometimes he will carry it to the living room and eat it. |
We were just laughing at Puddles last night about this, but he does it a little differently: I shred a little of the Natural Balance roll over his food and then add a tablespoon of hot water to make a "stew". When I sit his food bowl down he'll nose around, pick out a piece and suck the broth off, and then gently place it on the floor. He repeats this with one more piece and then he turns his attention to the bowl. After leisurely eating what's in his bowl, he'll ever-so-gently eat those two pieces off the floor. It's always the exact same process, and always EXACTLY two pieces of food in the floor. Just one of his many little quirks that we love :). |
