| Neutering.....???? Just wondered if the personality of the pup would be the same whether neutered or not? |

| Their personality doesn't change. At least Kaji's didn't change.... ok, I lie, he's more obedient. He doesn't really have that urge to mark anymore and he listens so much better now that all the hormones are out of his system. He's my little baby boy and always will be.

| Two quick questions. 1. How long after the surgery should we be protective of his couple stitches from his neutering? 2. Our puppy seems to have a rigid gait since the surgery (two days ago)...his back legs seem a bit close together and appears a little weak at times. Is this just due to the obvious pain that must be occurring? THANKS for any help that can be provided. |

| I'm sorry your little one is in pain. My vet told me short walks on a leash for 2 weeks after neutering obviously no jumping up and down either and not stairs, and no jumping for another two weeks after that. You could use one of those cones to keep him from the stitches, or a baby onesie that fits loosely. Kaji didn't bother his incision or stitches after I put a onesie on him. Oh, and don't be surprised if your baby has a short change in character. Due to the pain, my calm, quiet, easy going Kaji turned into Kujo! He whined, barked, constantly wanted to jump up and down, wouldn't sleep in his expen in his own bed, and cried, barked and even howled! Apparently, some pain meds can make them hyper, resulting in Kaji's "Kujo" moments. If that happens to you, don't stress it's only temporary. They can't put into words how much it hurts or itches and what exactly is bothering them. I let him sleep in my bed with me (big bed, he stayed on his side sleeping on a pillow). Yours might not go as crazy as mine, but his sudden change in walk can certainly be due to discomfort.
