Should I neuter him?
 
I need advise, I have 2 male Biewers and I dont know if I should neuter them? One of them is a pet only...the only problem is...he had an exploratory surgery like 2 months ago and I feel horrible making him go through another surgery. I have no marking issues with him.
My other one is IBC registered and within standards, my fiance wants to eventually breed him in the future. I would have to find a female in south Florida because I dont have anymore room for a female. The problem with him is that he marks! I put a belly band on him and that has been working. I am not sure what the benefits of neutering then are.

Please help:confused:

Neutering is recommended so they don't get cancer later in life. So, the answer to your question is a definite yes.:)

If you have 2 unaltered males in your house they will mark. In addition once they are marking sometimes nuetering will not stop this behavior and the longer you wait to nueter the more ingrained the behavior will become. Finally, once you start to use a male for breeding they will want to mark all the time. I personally do not see any benefit to using him to breed and take on all the added baggage of having any unaltered male in my home. Is it the idea that you can make money off stud fees? This alone should not be your reason for using him in this manner. I would have them both nuetered for their health and your sanity! :)

Is there a certain time frame that it is recommended?

To help curtail marking the earlier you neuter the better, especially if he is 6 months or older.

Stud fees are not my motives, my family wanted a puppy from him...so I wanted to breed him once. I may just have to fix them both soon.

I have said it before and I will say it once again~not a reason to breed. You breed for the betterment of the breed. If you want to make something and give it away bake cookie. :p If the batch doesn't turn out well you can toss them into the trash. Can't do that with puppies~well some do :(

Unless you know a detailed background of your dog lineage it is pretty much a crap shoot as to the health of future puppies/dogs. Then you are adding in the female and her background as well. Just because they are 2 cute lovable dogs does not mean they should bred. To look with your "eye" is not enough background.

At the end of the day, you breed him and then his marking issues increase and you now have a dog that is marking in your house forever.

Breeding to give away a puppy is not a reason to breed. There are far too many homeless animals to bring more into this world for this reason.

You should just get him fixed and be done with it.

I would tell my family "Good Luck" on thier search for a Yorkie and get my boys neutered.:) Breeding him so someone in your family can have one of his puppies, IMO, would not responsible.

Breeding isn't as simple as it sounds, and because many purebred have been over bred for financial reasons, there are also many inherited health problems. You really have to invest a lot of money into a dog to make sure that they will produce healthy puppies that are within standard. Some people are getting into breeding Biewers just because they are really popular, but this is not a reason to breed a dog. Once you breed him, his personality will change, and he will be harder to care for. Remember, also that the number one cause of death for unneutered male dogs is injures due to car accidents. Unneutered dogs are much more likely to run away, and can smell a bitch in heat for over 10 miles. They get pretty anxious when they can smell a female, and will have many more behavioral problems. If you and your fiancé are interested in breeding, I suggest you find a mentor who can evaluate your dog, and decide if he's really right for breeding. There really is an overabundance of dogs, and only those dogs who truly are the best examples of the breed should be bred.

I got him from Giles Biewers. I have his health records as well as 3 generations back.

The time frame should be determined by your vet. It's best to wait until the growth platelets close, as to not disrupt the growth pattern.
