I don't know what these are, but does anyone know when they 'close' in a yorkie.

I am glad you are going to neuter both of these dogs because NO ONE should be breeding Biewers unless they have done a great deal of homework. Excellent post! I hope people pay attention to your post, Biewers are such beautiful dogs, but I'm fearful for their future.

There are some studies that indicate this about early closing of growth plates and it's a concern especially for those involved in canine sports.

There are advantages and then a few disadvantages to neutering and IMO, the advantages are greater.

Each dog is different as to when they close. Your vet will feel the front of the legs and know if they are closed or not.

Everyone should be fearful for thier future. Very few breeders are doing any homework and once the connection could be made to the Parti's and we could see how much inbreeding was going on in England (all you have to look at is the pedigree's) before Mr. Biewer got his hands on the dogs and then he started inbreeding even more. It has never made any sense why the Biewers fell out of "popularity" in Germany (come on people, they were to beautiful for that) and I believe they were dying because of health reasons. WE could never get the Germans to tell us (nor did many of them do neocropsys) to find out the issues. I think you are going to see some of the same things here in the states...

Definitely neuter these boys asap. Please do not breed these dogs.
