| Help - Skin problems in babies? Hello My female Yorkie has suffered from dry skin on and off - sort of crusty and then scaly skin, using tea tree cream normally relives it - vet said it is likely to be allergy of some kind, but as it doesnt really bother her, we tend not to worry too much. However, i have noticed that her three week old baby has developed the same crusty skin....it sits on the skin and then over a peiod of time lifts off - again, it is not sore looking, and wet. Her skin underneath is not inflamed. But i have never known pups this young to suffer from any type of skin problem. I have noticed mom keeps on pcking up the baby and carrying her, or just holding her - i have noticed where the skin is scaly, it is where mom keeps lifting her. She is overly motherly. I am now worried, that mom might be causing this irritation. What do you think? i am always loathed to use any type of products on them this young, so have just bathed lightly with olive oil. What do you think? has anyone else had this in such young pups? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmmm...hard to say...but sounds possible that it is infectious...if this is possible, I'd take Mom and pup to the vet for a skin scraping, at the least and perhaps even a culture. Could be much more than an allergy and skin issues can be quite complicated (been there).
