Troy has tried tortilla chips (his fav), cheese, fruits and that's about it. He's pretty picky though. He won't touch chicken breast or veggies. He rarely will even eat dog treats. I made a decision yesterday not to give him anything that wasn't. Made for dogs. I'm learning his tummy is awfully sensitive and I don't want to interrupt that. |
I don't feed him anything while I'm eating, but sometimes give him apples cut up & cheese. My nephews were over (just turned 1) & kept dropping crackers on the floor which he also liked. We didn't want Winston to see us eating & beg all of the time, so I don't let him know it's people food. So far it works because he will leave us alone when we eat. My brother in law fed him from his own plate on Thanksgiving and it took a few days to let Winston know that wasn't going to continue when we got back home. |
I only give Sugar cooked chicken sometimes, rarely give her fruits or vegetables now... I do think veggies and fruits are good, but, I have phobia about giving fruits to my furbaby as my cousin's maltese choked and die after eating pear about 2-3 months ago. Since then I stop giving fruits to Sugar. If I really do I will make sure I chop it into very small pieces. |
After reading replies on this forum I just tried a baby carrot from the fridge because Winston is teething. He would not chew it up until I had to bite into it a bit for him. Then he chewed it into small pieces that kept on falling out of the corners of his mouth all over the couch. I'm not even sure how much of it he ate. It was cute, but I won't be giving him them again. |
Buddy gets to eat bannanas in the morning with his Mom. He patiently sits at her feet and waits for a little chunk. It is there morning ritual. He is also the "mad dasher". He will lay down on the floor by where we are eating (we eat in the living room quite a bit), and if something drops off the plate, or a crum spills, he is on it like a lightning bolt! Other than that, it is dog food only. Actually, as of last night and his sneaking, he also eats chocolate cake! But, never again!!! |
Pippi loves melons. Watermelon, honeydew, warzenmelone (forgot the English name. It's orange inside and light brown outside). Any fruit, actually. She also likes vegetables. Of course, no grapes or onions . |
Sasha's favorite "people food" treats are: Sweet Potato, Shredded cooked chicken/duck/venison, and the occasional cube of cheese. Trevor |
my Kyra loves Taste of The Wild Roasted Fowl. I had a difficult time to find something that she would eat. The breeder said she was eating the kind that she recommended but she would not eat it for me. i went to a speciality pet store named Unleashed and they have the most wonderful American made pet food. They offered many samples so I had an opportunity to see which of the 8 samples Kyra really liked. |
As long as it's not seasoned, I have given mine chicken, ground turkey, and ground sirloin. They also get apples, peas, green beans, and cheese. It's not everyday, just if we have it for dinner, and just a tiny bit. |
In addition to her dry food I feed her tiny bits of steak, cooked ground beef, yogurt, cottage cheese and a small amount of her dog food treat. Sometimes cheddar cheese, especially if I need to give her heart worm or flea prevention meds. |

As several people have mentioned, Cheerios are a yummy treat for Yorkies. I cut them in half for Sophie because she's so tiny and I don't want her to fill up on them. She also gets baby organic carrots from the farmers' market, but that's only 1-2 times a week. Her daily "treat-treat" is a small pinch of lowfat string cheese. I just barely peel the pkg. open and keep pinching off until she finishes it. It's her favorite training treat! I also give her organic dried liver treats, but not too much because they're so rich. I've tried peanut butter, but she's never very interested in it. One silly things she loves is when I giver her an ice cube and she bats it around the kitchen floor and licks it. :D |
Joey and Tank really don't get human food...Joey has a very sensitive tummy, so he doesn't get much. Tank isn't so sensitive, but I don't want to give Tank stuff all the time and give Joey nothing. I will give them bites of apple, carrot, and a very occasional piece of raw meat. They'll also get other fruits and veggies (Tank will even eat lettuce...crazy boy) sometimes. This is like a once to three times per week thing, just because we don't want to clean up diarrhea all the time :) Foods that dogs shouldn't ever get include: chocolate (duh) onions grapes/raisins (I didn't know this one for a while - and my boys used to get grapes!) garlic others, but I can't think of them at the moment. |
Mine love carrots and pieces of frozen green beans, shredded chicken, plain yogurt, blue berries and cheerios. |
Lucy loves watermelon; cooked carrots and peas; yogurt; cottage cheese; egg; and freshly cooked chicken. Cheerios and plain spaghetti noodles. Ok ok - I do give her the occasional fishy cracker! |
