Tyler can't handle wet food?
 
I don't get it!!!! The only way to get him to eat his food (BLue) is to put some wet on top and mix it in. When I would put warm water on it it ALSO made his tummy upest. Arrg.... I'm not even putting THAT much on there... I don't know maybe I am. How much wet and how much dry should I be giving him? He's 5#s and 9 months. And changing his food just isn't an option right now. We've changed it THREE times already.

hmmm...I have personally never given any of my dogs wet food, I stick to dry food since it's better for their teeth, maybe he doesn't like how if feels when he eats it!? You should really ask your vet what you should be doing! :D

Could you try a little bit of chopped up boiled chicken mixed in with his kibble. This was the only way a friend could get her Yorkie to eat when she was young. Now that she's 2 she'll eat it plain just fine and she just gives it to her as a treat now and then.

I've thought about putting some in with his kibble but scared that will upset his tummy as well!!! Hrmmm ): There's so many different options and stuff but it seems like no matter what I give him he either hates it or more so it hurts his tummy.

Are you talking about Blue Buffalo? Does he eat the little source balls??? I had Peanut on that food and he did not eat those little balls!! I switched him to Evo red meat small bites..

Why are you mixing wet food in with his dry?
I never gave Peanut wet food, I will on rare occasions but he gets dry all the time :D Maybe put like a teaspoon of wet food. Have you tried not mixing in the wet food? I would just try giving him just the dry food to eat.. If Tyler is hungry he will eat only his dry food.

If Tyler has an upset tummy a lot maybe you should try to get him on a "limited ingredent" dog food.... Maybe that is the problem??? I know you can get some samples to see if he likes it first..

Yes it's Blue Buffalo. I mix the wet in because he won't eat the dry good without it. He'll take a bite like every so often and I want him to learn to eat it at once. If I don't mix it... it takes him a whole day to eat it. I don't want to switch him b.c we've switched 3 times already and I know he'll eat it... it just takes him forever ):

What do you mean when you say that his tummy is upset?
What brand of wet food are you mixing into the Blue Buffalo?
What was the reason that you switched for 3 times already?
Do you purchase your food at Petco?

yay questions :D ok let's see....

he poops EVERYwhere and it isn't completely runny but it's soft and there are some spots of runny puddles.
I'm mixing in the Blue wet food
and i switched the first time because it was purina and i heard purina is BAD! second time he was eating wellness (you know i think it's been 4 times) and he had to go stay with my mother in law and she said he wouldn't eat it so she fed him IAMS. well i don't think IAMS is healthy either so i decided to try Blue. And like i said he will eat it it just takes him FOREVER. like it takes him a day to eat one bowl of food and the bowl is small ): we also have a problem now with ants getting to it so if he doesn't eat it then then the ants swarm it and i have to throw it out. so that's that :D:D

apparently tyler just likes it when I post his business on the forum and then once I do he behaves. LOL... I didn't want to feed him in the living room but I figured I'd try it.... he ate half his food which is better than when I give it to him in the kitchen. So I guess we'll try this for awhile. Oh... and I didn't put anything in his bowl but kibble (:

I ALWAYS had to mix in wet w/ the dry to get Jackson to eat and I know you said you didn't wanna switch foods again, but maybe you would have the same luck with Nature's Variety Instinct as I've had with Jackson? He was my picky boy as well and, like Tyler, needed wet mixed in. Since starting him up on NV about 2 1/2 weeks ago, he's eaten nothing but dry. I've given him wet mixed in with the dry a few nights a week just for a "treat" but he's loving it. It's the Turkey and Duck flavor. We've tried everything from Innova, Wellness, Merrick's, Before Grain, Dog Whisperer. He's never eaten a food like this. And he rarely gets any eye goop boogers that he got in the past, I clean his eyes out once every 3-4 days, that's it. He's got great energy, his coat is shiny as ever.

website? ugh my hubby is gonna be mad, LOL... thinks I treat the dog better than him and well... I do... but oh well... I'll try it.

I just edited my post a bit since you replied LOL but the site is Nature's Variety and it's the Instinct food. It's grain free.

And yeah, I treat my dogs health better than my own too :rolleyes:

Yea I read that... and love that fact... Tyler gets them bad and it would be nice to have to clean them daily!!

Nope.

I can find the Chicken variety at my local feed/ag store and my local pet boutique carries the Turkey/Duck. But, I usually wait for a sale on www.k9cuisine.com and I can get it for a lower price than I can locally, and they have free shipping on orders over $50. I order from them because my guys LOVE the Instinct Rabbit & I can't find it locally.

25.3 lb $47.99

anyone know how long 13 lbs would last a 5lb dog?

Yes, that's why I like K9 Cuisine's great sales & free shipping. Sometimes I have to buy a package of treats or something to get to the $50 but it's worth it.

Do you have a local feed/ag supply store? Or even a boutique (they price the food pretty competitively) If so, call them & see if they carry it. A lot of them do. Although my babies LOVE NV Instinct, I think you should always start with the smallest bag just to make sure they like it.

You can also go to the website and type in your zip code, and stores close to you that carry it will come up. There was a few places near me I didn't even know about that sell it!

I buy Jackson a 4.4lb bag of the NV Instinct and we're still using the bag after 3 weeks and 1 day. (I just looked backed at my email to see when we got it! ha) It will probably last another 4-5 days for us. I went to the store yesterday and bought the Rabbit flavor to see if he likes that as much as the Turkey and duck.

Will do! I have, like, 8 pounds left of the Innova I was buying for Jackson. He suddenly decided to stop eating it. :rolleyes: Even when I mixed yummy stuff in. I had bought the 15lb because Jackson & my moms dog would share but sadly, my mom's dog passed away. :( So, now I've got all this food just sitting in my house... lol. I might donate it to a shelter.

Check the website weekly. They have really good sales on Instinct every few months. :)

I'm glad to see that you might have found the answer to your quest. The reason I asked were you purchased your food was that Petco will take back food if your dog will not eat it. Either that or you can donate it to a shelter who will be very grateful for the extra meals that they will done. Good luck and I am going to take a look at that website for myself. :)
