Spay & Double Teeth Estimate Bailey went to the vet yesterday for rabies. Luckily she's totally fine, no reaction! I'm glad I waited. Also got a weight for the first time since 4 months. She's 7 and a half months now so probably full grown, and she weighed in at 3 pounds 11 ounces. I'm surprised she's stayed so small! Anyway, while I was there I asked about a quote for her spay as well as microchip and double tooth removal at the same time. Overall it seems a bit pricy. I was just wondering what a good price is. It would be great to hear ballparks of what others paid. Here is the breakdown: $200 for spay itself $60 for blookwork $63 for microchip $85 for tooth removal It's especially the tooth removal that seems high to me, since she only has one small double. Is there any chance at her age that it can still fall out on her own? And how bad is it to have a double tooth if I don't get it pulled? Oh, also he said she might have a luxating patella issue. He said it's stage 1 or something like that. She's always jumping off my bed and I wish she'd stop, but even with the doggy stairs she still jumps! If anyone has any suggestions or experience with that I'd love to know more about what I can do to keep it from getting worse! THANKS! :) |
I think those prices look very good. Prices can vary a great deal by region and I have not had a spay/tooth removal to pay for lately; so, I am not the best one to compare. I think the last dog I took in to be spayed wound up costing around $300 total. But that was quite some time ago. |
:aimeeyork:animal-paPaid 84.00 spay / 60.00 bloodwork / 22.00 1 double removed / $166. total Oklahoma prices not California /thank goodness!!!!! |
Thanks, wow I guess that is a lot then. Maybe it's not so much CA prices as this vet. Maybe I should call around a bit. |
I paid 370 for 6 teeth, neuter, drugs, monitoring and all of his shots. This was the cheapest vet in my area.. Most were charging 450 for then neuter alone!!! |

My vet quoted me $135 - $145 for spay, teeth removal, and pain meds. |
My 11 mo old girl just got spayed last week, $85 at Vet's office, and they removed the double tooth she had for free! Oh yeah, they even clipped her nails and brushed her out after surgery until I could come pick her up. |
I joined an animal rescue organization in my area (plannedpethood.com) for only $10 and I will now be able to have my puppy spayed for only $65 at a local animal hospital that supports the animal rescue's work. Great deal because if I wasn't a member of the rescue org., it would have cost me over $350 at the same clinic for spaying, not including teeth. See if there are similar organizations in your area that have relationships with vets or animal hospitals. |
WOW! I live in ft lauderdale, fl and my vet wanted 500 for Brinks to have his extra teeth pulled he only has 1 snaggle tooth. |
Bela Rose got spayed yesterday plus microchiped,i take her to banfield at pets mart. i got the wellness plan and paid $33.00, i live in Norh Carolina |
IMO the baby teeth should be removed for FREE. They don't even have any roots to hold them in and since they are already under for the spay. Everything else seems to be priced about right. In my area, a complete dental is only $165. |
Spayed last month I had my yorkie spayed a month ago, and 10 double teeth pulled. I was charged $196.96, which included putting her to sleep, pain meds, pulling all 10 teeth, and they gave her a bath and cut her nails afterwards. |
Wow Lola's spay would have only cost $115 but I received a $50 voucher from my county's animal shelter. It would have been $25 for double teeth removal but I decided to let them fall out by themselves (which they did within a week). My advice is to shop around and read reviews. I never take the first estimate. ;) |
I jsut had Kingston neutered yesterday. I got a $30 voucher from my animal shelter to go towards his surgery. I paid a total of $175. That included the neuter, pain meds and getting 8 teeth pulled out. |
