| Distilled Water I know I have heard that distilled water can reduce tear stains/ eye gooeys. My question is, do they drink it instead of reg water and it prevents them.......or do they just mean that I should use it to wipe the eyes when I see tear stains or gooeys? I was hoping it would prevent Thanks!

Donating YT 10K Club Member | They drink it. Some report it's worked well for them...and others said it didn't do a thing.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It worked for Joey, but I don't know why. You use it as their drinking water. Regular water has minerals in it, and the minerals may affect some dogs. If you decide to try it, make sure you buy "distilled water, not just regular bottle water, and make sure the water is safe for drinking, as some distilled water is only safe for appliances such as steam irons. Here's a great link with more information on what can cause tearing. Tear Staining: The Causes & Cures

| I have been using distilled water for i week now.vIsaw it on a thread here on yt. It really works for my jada and bogie. Bogie's eyes were horrible and I could see a difference in a couple of days. Now he doesn't have any eye boogers at all. The staining is gradually fading.Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the remaining stains off his face?

| I started this for both of my girls when we got Lane because she has a very blonde head, and it really made a difference. I personally drink distilled water, so it was not much of a switch. I cannot remember where, but someone told me the distilled was bad for them because they were no longer getting those minerals in the water - does anyone know more about this? I take vitamins myself, so I never thought the distilled would deplete me of necessary minerals. My girls do take a Cosequin/Multivitamin combo so I was thinking it would be the same for them. My doctor and also the girls' vet has no problems with this. I would far prefer the distilled water before something like Angel's Eyes.

Diamon eyes is different. It's just a topical stain remover. It may not be as "effective" as Angel's eyes, but it does keep it under control for the most part. | |
