I have Accident and Illness only policy, with no Dental or Rx coverage. I chose a $200 annual deductbible and 20% co-pay (same for both dogs) and I pay roughly $43 a month. |
I had VPI for 2 1/2 years and then cancelled it. I think it is a horrible plan and a waste of money. They pay on "final diagnosis" so if you take your dog to the vet and then in the end they have something that is not covered they will not cover your vet visit. Also, when they do cover something it's such a small amount it's not even worth it. I say take the money you would spend on a policy and put it in a savings account (a doggie account) and then use that. |

Have you looked at Pet Assure? They are not insurance but participating vets give 25% off, among other perks. |
We also have Petplan but haven't had to use it yet. When we signed up we did have to have the Vet fax Bella's records to them. We went with the Silver plan with a $200.00 deductible. Right off the top of my head I think we are paying $24.00 a month. We took it out for peace of mind and hopefully will never have to use it. |
This is straight from VPI's site: Pre-Existing Conditions A pre-existing condition is an injury or illness that began or was contracted, manifested or incurred before the date the policy coverage began. Some pre-existing conditions are temporary and may be covered during the policy term if the condition has been cured for at least six months (medical records from your veterinarian are required). Some pre-existing conditions are permanent and will not be covered. Your dog's issue is one I am sure they would claim as an "illness." They won't care whether it has been diagnosed yet or not. |
I have this plan I have the premier plan. I pay 70.00 a month for both of my girls. I am very happy with it. I just recieved 661.00 for a years worth of bills. I submitted approx 800.00 worth (I also submitted their spays and teeth cleaning which came up to 835.00 KNOWING they wouldn't cover this but thought they might cover meds ...it didn't ) I have a 50.00 deductible I am very happy with this plan. |
