| Bambi's home after neutering yesterday. bambi had an undescended testicle, so his surgery was a bit more complicated. He's been acting pretty slow and tired, stares into space while standing. I know the surgery and the anesthesia makes them tired, but how long did it take your babies to recover after their surgery? Does teh pain reliever makes them feel tired and slow? his legs seems a bit uncoordinating when he walks... i'm just kinda worried. |

| Yoda had his surgery on 9-12 (Monday) after about 3 days he was feeling so much better...His pain med was Rimadyl...this pain medication does not cause a dog to be groggy at all...I would say that Bambi was groggy form the sedation.

| Thank you everyone. Bambi is feeling alot better everyday. this is the 3rd day after his surgery (had it on Friday). I just have the feeling he gets a bit slow after he takes his pain killer (Butorphanol). What do you all use to keep yoru baby away from licking or wanting to scratch their sutures? (he has the buster collar already, but sometime he wants to scratch it still...) Last edited by bbdolphin; 09-18-2005 at 08:37 AM. |

He should be fine it does normally take a couple of days for them not to be so sluggish. I had Mollied spayed on Wed of last week she was there for two nights becuase she had a uterine infection brewing so the first night Tuesday they had IV's fluids and anitobotics and they wanted to keep her an extra night for more IV antiobotics. So when I picked her up Thursday afternoon she was her old self. She is a bit sore right now. But of course it's hard to keep these guys calm like they want you too. But I would think by tomorrow he should start getting back to his old self. Sorry didn't mean to ramble on. I know how worried you are. Keep us posted.

| I used Onesies on Yoda, this helped to keep him from licking the incision (they are for babies, you can find them in the infants section of the store)

He is so cute. I ask the tech when I picked Mollie up about bringing her back for removal of stitches. They left them in for over 24 hrs but then took them out so I wouldn't have to bring her back. She said that there were some on the inside that would dissolve. I didn't think to ask they may have used glue as well. So sorry I can't help you with that. I think I've read that some members would put onesies on their babies to keep them away from their stitches. Sorry I can't be any help. I'm glad that he is feeling much better today.

| bambi had a retained testicle, so his sutures were quite large. Did you guys use anything to clean that part of his skin prior to his sutures being removed? |
