Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Hello, I to wondered this and asked my vet. What I was told is that if you have alot of pets in the area where you intend to walk your little one it is best to wait until he/she has all their rabies shot because they can get parvo. I personally would wait until they have them. You will have a lifetime to walk your little one. If you take the chance and they do contract parvo well Im sure you know what can happen then

My furkids Donating Member | ![]() Maybe I'm just insane (LOL) but, My little girls feet NEVER touched the outside ground until they had all their shots. I was so worried they would catch something bad. People thought I was nuts! I didn't care...They were too tiny and I didn't want them sick. Our yard is not fenced in and we have had several different wild animals come right up to the house...If I were you I would just wait...MOP!

| ![]() Maybe I'm too lax but I think it's fine. As long as he's had the distemper, parvo and bordatella... all should be fine. Jackson didn't get his Rabies shot until last week at almost 7 months old and I've been bringing him outside on a leash to kids baseball games, for walks, etc since about 12 weeks old. I got him at 9 weeks.

| ![]() thanks all for your input. the only reason i ask is because he's 5 months old now and he's never stepped foot outside. i feel bad because i bring my older dog out for walks and i carry him around in a pet carrier. i can tell he wants to walk with my older dog because he always barks while he's in the carrier. i've been spreading his shots out longer because he's so tiny. i don't plan giving him his rabies shot until he's at least 6 months. hopefully by then he will also have put on more weight. i'm just goign to play it safe and wait till he has all his shots before i let him walk outside.

| ![]() What if our yard is fenced and the dog from upstairs is vaccinated? (we live in a basement apartment)

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Our vet does not want her taking walks other than in our yard (where there have been no other animals) nor even going to the groomers until she has her rabies shot. (I think it may be a law about having the rabies shot before the grooming visit but I'm not sure. We won't be doing it anyway since our vet has advised us not to do so.) |

| ![]() It isn't the safest thing to do but I'd probably let my pup walk before the rabies hot. ![]()

| ![]() I did. No where like a dog park or anything but around the block, I took him for a few. It's good to get them used to it early on. Jackson's a fabulous walker too and I owe it all to starting him early. I started potty training outside right away too at 10 weeks old.
