| Bordetella, nasal or injection?? Which is safer for Yorkies? I had always used nasal in my other breed but know nothing about this with these babies. Thank you all for replies! Carol and Jemma |

| I always thought the shot was better because I had read of quite a few dogs getting kennel cough from the nasal. But about a month or so ago someone on here said their dog got kennel cough from the shot so Im uncertain. Mine get the shot but I wouldnt get it at all if they didnt get groomed

| On my dachshund my vet said that nasal was better, however on my other dachshund the vet couldn't get him to take it nasally/he gave him a run for his money (bucking branco while the vet was holding him, lol). Both of mine were fine on it but I would prefer nasal... |

| Nasal is a live vaccine so it is possible that your dog can get it (usually it is a slight case), but then the shot they say isn't as good. We still use up the nose and have never had an adult dog come down with it - only two puppies. One that was very small and the other that was just getting shipped to us. I also heard that the shot hurts a lot?? Not sure on that though because we have never used it.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | None of mine have ever gotten bordetella vaccines. It is largely ineffective...as it's similar to a human flu shot and doesn't cover all the various types of KC out there.

| Bailey had a reaction to the bordatella shot... he started throwing up after he got it. The nasal kind. I haven't gotten it since.

| Gracie Ruth does better with the shot. The nasal really puts her on her butt for a few days. I don't notice her shot area being any more sensitive then when she gets any other type of shot. And I like how she doesn't seem as stressed over the shot as she is when they try to shove something up her nose. Can't say as I really blame her on that.
