Yorkie Talker | trouble with pills Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get a heart worm pill in Alphie? I have tried ham, peanut butter, canned food....he always finds it! His vet says they are quite bitter, so crushing it won't work. I hate to force feed it to him, mainly because it is rather large for a little guy. Does any one else have this problem? |

| what brand of heartworm pill is it ? if it is the tablet such as iverhart, maybe you coat it with a little butter and drop it on the back of his tongue then hold his mouth and rub his throat to make him swallow... |

| I use Pill pockets. It's the only way pills don't get spit back at me. I just use enough to cover the pill rather than the whole pocket. My dogs like the chicken flavor.

| Callie can remove any pill from any kind of covering so when she had her surgery the vet tech gave me a pill shooter and showed me how to work it. It is not as bad as it sounds is doesn't shoot the pill it just drops it down there throat. If you decided to do this buy one with a rubber tip because a plastic tip could hurt there throat.
