YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Third Eyelid? Has anyone ever heard of this? Apparently, all dogs have them. I found this out recently when Sapphire was at the vet's office for her shots. I noticed on her a couple of times a pinkish/redness in one of her eyes. I thought maybe she scratched herself, and it was irritated. Anyway, I asked the vet about it, and he said it was just her third eyelid, and it had been damaged somehow. If you look real close when your dog blinks, you can almost see it wipe across the eye real fast. Anyway, Sapphire's eye sometimes looks like a person's eye with their eyelid turned inside out. He said it will always be like this. It's hardly noticible, and it only "pops out" once in awhile. I guess the nerve/muscle is damaged. The vet said on larger dogs there is something he can do (not sure if this meant surgery or not) but said that Sapphire was too small, and it probably wouldn't cause her any problems. Has anyone ever heard of this before?

| Lady had cherry eye when I adopted her. It's a simple surgical fix. Lady had hers done while she was under anesthesia for a dental: Cherry Eye Surgery... Third Eyelid Eversion In A Dog in ThePetCenter.com. Cherry Eye in Dogs |
