Advice Please

I need some advice on what is going on with my Tenci. She is 20 months old, and I noticed about three weeks ago that her hair was coming out, and breaking off. I talked to the vet, and he said that it was probably the shampoo that I was using, but I noticed last night that she was not eating her food. I feed them Merrick dry food that is avail all day, and I feed them Merrick wet food at night. She normally gobbles it up, but she has not touched it. She will eat treats, and seems to be fine, but I don't know what is going on with her not eating. This is not like her at all. What could be wrong with her? Could she be tired of the food? I have been feeding it for over a year. Any insight will be helpful.

If there isn't anything medically wrong with her maybe you need to change her food. My daughters golden was having skin and (dry) hair problems. She has switched him to Wellness and the itching is gone. And...she has a nicer coat.

It sounds like she needs extensive bloodwork.

did your vet do a full check up on her? with her hair falling out and her appetite being off i would like some blood work might be a good idea. the first thing that comes to mind is a thyroid problem

Totally agree.

What is her skin like? Skin is an elimination organ - so if there is an issue that is ongoing, it is either an allergy or secondary to disease. I can't stress how important it may be to find out which of those it is.

I agree, I had a dog with a thyroid problem when I was young. When treated, the dog lives a normal life. Hair and skin issues are both associated with thyroid .

Thanks to everyone that have tried to help. Her skin seems normal. It does not seem dry, and is not flaky. It just comes out when I brush her, and I see little matts in her bed. It also looks like it has been broke off in the middle. She was in heat about 3 weeks ago, and although my guy are neurted, Chip would chase her and chew on her hair. This is when I started seeing it. I did have her to the vet, and he did some blood work, that he said was fine. I need to call and find out what kind of blood work was done. She seems hungry, she will eat her treats, but she does not eat her Merrick like she used to.
She is Peeing and Pooping normal though. I brushed my Trouble last night, and alot of hair came out from him too, but he has more to loose than Tenci. Her hair has always been thin.
