| My puppy killer has always had kinda soft stools and was tested for parasites and worms tested negative. So i changed foods from IAMS TO iNNOVA thinking this might help.I probably didn't do it as gradual as I should have and now he has diarrhea he doesn't go any more often than before but its so runny. How long should this continue before it gets better? Like I said he doesn't go any more than before so I don't think he's going to lose weight or get dehydrated but it's so messy and I'm AFRAID HE'LL END UP POOPING ON MY CARPET. pLEASE GIVE ADVICE. |

| yes it for SURE should have been a gradual change since you were going from a low quality food to a high quality food- his system is cleaning out all the old stuff. if it hasn't been too long since you made the change i'd backtrack and start putting more Iams back in his food- it should take 10 days to change them over. For the time being you can give him PURE canned pumpkin. you can get it in the baking section- it comes in a canned- says 100% pure pumpkin- this should help. |

| Do you mix the pumkin in with their food or give it by itself? I changEed his food in 5 days so you think I should start putting a little Iams back in his food? |

no the pumpkin is straight up- maybe 1 tsp- he probably wont' like it but do what you can. I usually mix it with organic yogurt- if you are doing this is the yogurt MUST not be "lite"- low fat is fine- and it should be plain flavoured- i like stoneyfield (i think that's what its called) | |

| Looks like you got good advice from marcerella02 already. You can also try some boiled plain chicken breast mixed w/white rice. This always seemed to work for my babies when they had the runs when they were pups. I had no choice but to give them this cuz I could never find pure canned pumpkin for some unknown reason. They only had Libby's, the ones you put in pie filling, which is a no no cuz it has spices & sugar in it. I could never find Stonefield yogurt either...

| Thank you for the advice I'm going to try to find the pumpkin tomorrow after work.I think his runs are getting more runny but still no more stools than usual. I'm so ready to see the end result of the Innova food change I had to special order it online because we live in a really small town that does't sell it anywhere, but hopefully it will be worth it. s.murray |

| I would suggest if this continues that you contact your vet for some anti-diarreah meds. Flagyl is the best going as it is an antibiotic that stays the digestive track.

| This happend to us too. we switched our puppy from a really crappy food the breeder was using to Natures Variety and he had a bad reaction. We came home on the 3rd day and there was throw up ALL over the house and he has liquidy diah . He was covered in throw up and was all sticky. We felt so bad for him. I called the vet and they had us give him a 48 hour "bland diet" with boiled chicken with rice or boiled ground beef with rice. NO reg food only that mixture. It helped instantly. After the 48 hours I started adding both his new and old food to the rice and meat mixture. It was so awful so see our little guy like that, especially when it was OUR doing. I was more concerned about him not eating that bad food that I weened him too fast. I hope your little one feels better very soon. You definetly do not want him to get dehydrated, that is very scary
