shaved area on throat area after illness.. our Maisey came back on Saturday after near a week on iv .. she has both front legs with shaved areas assumed that was were her meds/iv were put in .. but on bathing her today noticed she has a large square shape shaved area under her chin on throat area..anyone have any idea what this was for? her bark is still strange sounding we thought it was because she was literally a bag of bones when we brought her home ..do they put meds into throat directly? anyone have any ideas? |
What happen to her? |
They may have done a blood draw there, which is not atypical in smaller dogs. Or, was she on ECG? Sometimes to get a good vector, they place ECGs in odd places... |
Her strange sounding bark is probably due to the tubing placed in her throat for the anesthesia. It irritates the throat and will get better. Agree with Wylie's mom...the shaved area was probably where they placed an electrode sensor. |
Usually in emergency hospital settings blood draws are done on the juglar if they are on IV fluids so the veins in the legs are kept good for further IV use if needed. |
thank you! wow some insightful reasons there ..they did say she had irregular fast heart beat ..could also of been for blood tests i guess *shudders* the vet never gave what she had a name beyond "gastro problems" sever black runny poo's and sickness .. spent near a week at vets on intensive iv/plasma.. thought we were going to lose her but thankfully she came out really well :) |
