also if u get a dog that is 16 weeks or more even like 6 month's from a breeder i am pretty sure most of them dont have all there vaccinations maybe the first two cuz its important they are dewarmed so don't think ur getting away with it easy cuz they are a couple month's older even if they are and the person says they have all their shot's u should always be sure and get them compleatly checked by ur vet and get them there for sure shot's from ur vet so they can keep it documented!!:) |

That way a poor dog does not have to be put to sleep because the owner cannot afford a $5,000-$10,000 life-saving surgery. There are still deductibles with insurance. You may have to pay $50 for a visit, but it is the emergency situations you are really insuring. Puppies go thru a series of vaccinations. Each time it costs $$$. I think it is important that they get their vaccinations especially if you plan on taking it out in public. There are many "doggie" places that you can go to where there are un-vaccinated dogs and your puppy could be exposed to some things that could prove to be deadly. |
My first visit was 157.00 that was for wormer and ear medication for a yeast infection , shots and an exam and front line, next visit was a shot and exam 115.00 , this last appt was for Kennel Cough and it cost me 109.00 that was for exam and meds |
For Wantayorkie23 and Joni, everyone has given some really great info here, such as different vets charge different prices and you should ask what to expect for a well puppy check and it will cost more if you want it checked for liver shunt and other more exotic Yorky problems. You should ask about what shots they will give and how many. There is some controversy amoung some vets that imply that too many shots in too short a time can cause health problems in animals. Most animal insurance is very expensive, perhaps one day it will get less so. Currently this kind of insurance mostly helps with animals with traumatic problems that need help with broken bones or cancer treatment or expensive surgeries. Find out what shots are given, what tests are done during the visit and how many visits will be done the first year. After the first year, you don't have to go back as often unless there is something wrong. Rabies shots after the animal is an adult, can be given once every 3 years and this is true with many of the other shots also. Worm and heartworm and flea prevention will be every year though ;) |
