diamond naturals dog food i was just wondering is anyone here uses Diamond Naturals Dog Food? I looked it up on dogfoodanalysis.com and it got 3 out of 6 stars so it seems like a semi decent food. It doesn't use any by-products or corn. Now I know Diamond had a huge recall about a year ago so thats a little scary. And the regular low end Diamond is not a good food. I also read that Diamond makes Taste of the Wild (which i really liked but they dont make a puppy food and i think the kibble would be too big) and also that they made Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul food.... so does anyone have any opinions on Diamond Naturals?? I would NEVER EVER knowingly feed a food that was manufactured at a Diamond Dog Food Plant. That is why I no longer feed Canidae. As soon as the food started to be produced at the Diamond plant, the quality went down the drain. Not only that, but several years ago dogs started dying from one (or more) varieties of Diamond Dog Food and their was way too long of a delay before they started pulling the food. The small farm supply store I purchase horse food from used to sell Daimond food - which was one of the only foods that Boo the Boxer could eat with her sensitive stomach. The store owner called me and warned me. He also told me that Diamond Foods would NOT refund for the tainted food, only replace it with new food. I cannot support a company that does not support it's customers any better than that. |
how can i find out what other brands are made by the diamond brand or in the diamond plant? |

Finding a dog food has been my absolute biggest issue with getting a puppy. I of course want something good for him but my options are somewhat limited as I only really have one PetSmart and one little pet store (they dont sell actual puppies) in like a half hour driving distance form my house. It's so hard!! and to hear so many contradicting things on some foods that some people love and others say no way! (no saying thats happening in this thread at all, i really appreciate everyone who is helping me) but i see it a lot when reading back through old posts. The recall thing definately scares me. And I read that a lot of people like Natural Balance dog food... which just had a recall and i saw in an article about the recall in usatoday that some of natural balance dog foods are packed at the Diamond Dog Foods... I feel like my head is going to explode and i'm never going to find a good food :( |

I'm also thinking Blue Buffalo...... how about experiences with this?? Sorry I'm all over the place, so many different things are going through my head!! Thanks Again! |
A couple of my friends use the blue buffalo. I really don't worry about the pieces being too big, how big is your pup? My little one has never had any trouble eating any of her kibbles, and for some reason, mine tend to like the bigger kibbles. I would def. go with the halo if I had less dogs to feed |
taste of the wild, is made at diamond foods. When you request a sample from them the email says diamond foods. Its a meduim size kibble, the ingredients are excellent and very reasonable, its all life stages food and when Tucker was 8 weeks old he ate it with no problems. The diamond food recall was 3 years ago and it included grains. Alot of the foods they make now, dont include grains. Not to mention almost all dog food brand has been recalled for one reason or another. I fed taste of the wild but after a few months of them being on it, my dogs stopped tolerating it. They were very gassy and pooping a ton. But I would still recommended it to anyone who asked about it. Not all dog foods work for every dog. :). MY dogs didnt like chicken soup and they got terrible diarreah from canidae. I use dogswell now,my dogs love it and they have never looked so good, but its quite expensive and getting harder and harder to find, so I think in the next month or so I will be back on the hunt for a new food for like the 7th time this year. Trying to find a good quality food that your dog will eat for a reasonable price is so hard. Good luck!! :) |
