Our vet just started Parker on Revolution- Muave (it is specially for dogs under 5 pounds). It works for fleas/ticks/heartworm. He's just had his first dose, and it was preventative, he hasn't had any fleas yet, so I can't tell you how good it works yet:) It was about 11 dollars for the one month. She has to check him at his next apt, to see if he needs the next one up, cuz he's growing like a weed, so he may be over the 5 pound limit on the mauve. |
My vet gave me Frontline Plus to use on Ciera and told me it was ok to use the whole tube on her and she was just 2.2lbs. I did and she didn't have any problems with it and she goes outside every day to play and she has never had any fleas. |
Used the whole tube since day1 and was told to put it between her shoulder blades, looks kind of greasy for a couple of days after you put it on ! |
None of our dogs have ever had any problems with fleas at all. We used to use Frontline and then also give them heartworm meds, but now that they are on Revolution they don't have to have both. That part is great. My problem is that we (my husband, me, and the vet) can not figure out what is causing her to itch so much. |
I used Frontline on Reyna after we went camping and she brought home fleas aaaaaand ticks....ew! I used the entire little tube on my 2.8 lb. puppy (as instructed to despite the label saying for 11 - 22lbs) and it worked like a charm. I give it two  good luck! |

I switched shampoo/ conditioner , spray to the chris christensen system and switched her food to Nutro Ultra ( no corn in it ) and her scratching days are over with. |
I have the frontline spray bottle.Neo is about 5-6 lbs and i use 1 full pupm per lb.That does the trick. Heather |
I just applied full tubes of Frontline Plus to Carter (3.4#) and Cooper (2.5#). It has always worked for us and we're in south Louisiana where our fleas are the size of horseflies. If your pup is still itching, analyze your current food and make a switch if it contains corn. Also consider adding Missing Link to his/her food. Bye-bye itchies! Lisa |
Revolution here is what I have always used on my boys since they were two pounds. I love it cause it covers so many different things with one dose. Never ever have I seen a flea on my boys. For the itching another member on YF recommended tee tree oil shampoo (one of my boys has a hot spot) and it has worked really well. I am not crazy about the initial smell, but it has decreased his scratching at the spot about 80% after the first shampoo. Good luck. |
well I was using frontline Plus and after reading this post by the way ( very helpful) Im ready to re-order and thinking about Revolution, I like the idea of it's multiple preventions and just spoke with my vet for a quote for Revolution, she told me if I had a flea problem it will not work (I don't) and was going to call me back with the price, because she only knew of prices for larger dogs! she said for a large dog it would run around 90.00?? can anyone advise me where to purchase this and since tilly is about 15lbs and sami is 6 lbs Im alot confused on the weight issue. I checked on animal RX & it says Revolution 6 month supply For Dogs 10-20 lbs.$70.50..would this be the one I buy? I also checked petmeds, petscriptions & petsRX anyone have any ideas or can offer suggestions on any online meds for reasonable prices, and since I wouldn't know what is a reasonable price on this particular product? I could use your advice pleeze...:) |
Re: fleas and ticks I use k9 advanticks this is for fleas and ticks. They have another formula called k9 advantage just for fleas. The advanticks comes in a dosage up to 9-10 lbs I beleive. I feel better putting this on because I don't worry about to much because levi weighs around 7-8 lbs. I find it works pretty well. We have lots of fleas(sand) and ticks and it does the trick. (I live on Cape Cod) Good luck. |
Ask your vet about Oral dosing of Ivermectin for her. Scarcopic mange is highly contageous to other dogs, AND HUMANS in the form of Scabies. Good luck, and BLESS her (and your!)heart! Quote:

Revolution is not something I'd use unless a dire emergency (aka ear mites or scarcopic mange) there have been TOO MANY dogs die mysteriously with kidney and liver failure which were otherwise healthy dogs, and the only link was Revolution. That, and the fact that Yorkies don't have the best livers in the world as it is, is enough to keep me from ever using Revolution unless absolutely necissary. My choice for fleas is Frontline SPRAY. I spray if I see more than two or three fleas on whichever dog is lucky enough to have it. One 20 ML bottle ($18.00) lasted me 2 years before I had to buy another...if just ONE or two fleas, I bathe in a heavy normal shampoo, and let it sit on for at least 5 minutes to smother them out. I'm not much for putting anything on them or in them that doesn't HAVE to be there, so I'm sparing with my frontline, and treat my yard instead...so far so good! |

How to tell if Frontline worked I put Frontline plus on my pup Rocky yesterday Thursday 8.7.06 how do i tell if he has no more fleas he's always running around the apt. Do i check the floor for dead fleas will they stay dead on his body till after i bathe him? Because dogs are dogs and wether they have fleas or not they will scratch. How can i tell if the fleas are dead, he didnt have it bad. |
