| Healthy Treats? Our pup has had some loose stools recently. Nothing has changed except that we have been using treats for training. I think this may be the culprit. I heard that treats can cause loose stools. What can we use as a treat that is good for her? We need to be able to use it several times a day for training...so I don't know what to get that is okay for a young pup? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | While not especially healthy, cheerios aren't too bad either, and are so small they don't ruin the appetite for more nutritious food. Most pups love them too. The other treat we use is green beans, the frozen kind, not the canned. as they contain too much salt. Just cut into small pieces.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | No, but when giving any new food, go slowly. With cheerios, you could probably give as many as 5 the first day, and green beans you could give one. Any tummy upsets, and you would back off. BEWARE of fatty foods.

| I agree with Nancy, I give Tricksie those treats as well as 3 frozen blueberries with no sugar once a day, she loves frozen carrot that I thaw and cook. Only give her small amounts of any treat. She has loved Yorkie Yummies for a long time. Good luck.

| I've had to give up brocolli stalks. Hiro LOVES to munch on them -- but they're MY favourite part too!!! For training, I use these: Sniffers 101 All Natural Training Bits for Dogs reviews | Buzzillions.com. They're about the size of a quarter. I break them into pieces and use the little bits for tricks, or whatever. If I'm doing a training session I'll use 3 and break them into 12 smaller pieces.
