It could be different if the dog is otherwise healthy OR if I am misreading something (but I've found similar articles in more than one spot for small intestinal biopsy).:confused: Anyway, in this case, it isn't so much if the animal is healthy or not I don't think. It has something to do with intestinal wound breakdown...
Also, Ellie is not perfectly healthy. Her liver issues make anesthesia a bit more dangerous for her and when the pancreas is touched during surgery, it can get irritated and maybe even cause pancreatitis. Since she has had it once, I'm concerned about a recurrence.
But she is doing pretty well right now, so hopefully we can avoid it. :)
Right now we just need to get her UTI cleared up. |
