Good news......he LOVES the Pumpkin.....loves, loves, loves it. Yes we feed veggies etc......and supplements too. No tables scraps though......I'm really tough on that one. I'm so glad he loves the Pumpkin. He ate about two or three tablespoons of it. Let's hope all this gels now and the diarrhea ends soon. |
I'm SO glad you have found something to help so far! We all know how horrible it is when your baby is sick. We will definitely be praying for you and Marcella. Lola had giardia one time and it was a complete nightmare!! We were both up all night, cuz Lola had horrendous diarrhea. It's so stressful when they are sick, and I hate feeling so helpless. I'm really hoping the pumpkin works, I'll be curious to know, for future issues! Keep us posted! Hope he feels better soon :) |

Sally, you are figuring things out fast here on YT  Love your picture! |
Hello Sally and welcome to yorkietalk! If you are still up I just thought I would mention that i have a friend that kept having these probs with her westie and lo and behold after several trips to the vet and thousands of dollars later they discovered that her dog was reacting to household cleaning products! Something most of us never give a thought to. After she started using natural cleaning products and air fresheners her dog was fine. If you happen to use bleach make sure Mickey is not in the room and rinse the floors with clear water after you clean them. Also if you have carpet the same applies. Just a tip I wanted to pass on. Hope your baby feels better soon! God bless you!:D |
It's late so I didn't get a chance to read through all posts - so someone else may have suggested this. My Oscar had issues with diarrhea - vet gave him flagyl (metronidazole) for 10 days, always cleared up right away. Was also prescribed immodium - but check with your vet first on this one. |

UPDATE: He, as I mentioned last night.......LOVES the pumpkin.....I gave him maybe 2 or 3 tablespoons of it. He had a small episode of diarrhea about 10 or so last night......we settled down for the night......I couldn't sleep though worrying about if he got up and I didn't feel him move, so I got his leash, wrapped it around him loosely, put the hook end through the handle....did not tighten it at all.....put it around my hand and went to sleep......he moved once, I followed.....and he has not had diarrhea since last night.......and no vomiting for over 30 hours and I hope, really hope I'm seeing an end to whatever this has been. I thank everyone for all your input, caring and concerns. Your input, I believe with my heart and soul, has helped me to get him on the road to recovery. I honestly don't know what I would have done without this site and all of you wonderful people. I am grateful beyond words....and I wish I could hug every one of you. One question I do have is.....Mickey is 23 lbs......how much pumpkin can I feed him in a 24 hour period? I want to give this to him for the rest of his life and he really loves it. Thank you again everyone.....I have found a home, that's for sure.:aimeeyork |
My vet suggested Kaopectate,,,,1/4 tsp. three times a day. It worked the first day and no more trouble. |
:):)Saturday 11AM update on Mickey. He went for a walk about an hour ago, and he has gone from watery diarrhea to a normal, albeit pumpkin colored poop! What a miracle Pumpkin is! I'll be giving it to him every day from now on. Thank you all.:animal-pa |
I just saw this thread. HOORAY!!! Glad to hear that Mickey had solid pumpkin color poop. :) |
Excessive urination after bout of diarreah! Quote:
I've been following this post because for 2 days my baby, Yuki was going through the same thing except for the vomiting. Just as Msmissy did, I purchased the pumpkin and made the magic broth and mixed it with white rice and shredded the chicken. After 2 helpings (2tbl) of the pumpkin (lunch and dinner) Yuki's stool firmed up although it was pumpkin colored mixed with his normal color poop. :DWe were so happy to see this...however, now that the poop has firmed up, he is now urinating a lot! :confused:He's at the door to go out every 15 minutes for the last 2 hours. I was thinking that he must now have a UTI. But after careful consideration, I don't think i's that because he is peeing more than normal quanity wise. He really didn't drink much water today. He only drank the broth mixed in with the rice and chicken 3 times today. Would the broth cause him to urinate more? Also, could the garlic and parsley from the magic broth be effecting his urinary react? He is normally so good at holding his water at night, but I'm almost certain he'll have an accident in his crate tonight. Help Please!:( |

No more excessive pee and poop still solid!!! Quote:
He did good through the night, but still urinated a good quantity in the morning when I took him out. His urine is very clear. He still hasn't drank any water. He didn't have an urge to go again for about 2 hours after waking and it was back to his normal quantity. So. I'm hoping it was just the "magic broth" running thru him. I just gave him his first meal. I gave him a little of his kibble (chicken soup for puppy) mixed with a little of the pumpkin and tblesp of low sodium broth (kind of scared to use the "magic broth" right now). Oh, by the way, he hasn't pooped again since last night at 9:00 p.m. when his poop was solid again.... Oops:), as I'm typing, my husband took him out to relieve himself ...and everything seems normal again. He had a solid pumpkin colored poop and no pee, since he had just peed right before eating 10 minutes ago. He's now acting like his normal super energetic self... running through the house and playing with his toys!!! YEHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!:D:D:D:D:D Thank you all for the great info. YT and the wonderful people who are so willing to help and share their insiteful info are so wonderful, and have saved me from so much stress, not to mention unnecessary vet bills. Since getting Yuki about 2 months ago, I've had the opportunity to learn so much from so many people on YT. Thank you, soooooooooo much!!! God Bless you all and your little ones.:aimeeyork |
Glad Ukie is feeling better. Things will perhaps settle down for him. It's just hard when they are so young & little - you don't want to wait too long to get to the vet. |
