Yorkies are thirty six times more likely to have liver shunt than any other breed. Any time someone says their dog is suffering seizures especially after eating...definititive testing needs to be performed. Dogs don't have seizures to clean themselves...seizures are a symptom of something else. |
My furbaby acts crazy like that to, not after eating though, but sometimes when she wakes up, it's part of her stretch routine. It's really cute and funny. I wouldn't describe it as seizure like, but maybe yours is doing something different. |

i was always told that allergies typically dont occur until after a year old, so i'm sure its not that. i agree with everyone saying he feels great! fiona does the same thing after she gets a bath, even if i have dried her completely! so if he isnt causing himself harm, not to worry! |

In a liver shunt dog...ammonia builds up in their heads after eating. This causes their head to feel funny so the dog rubs their head into furniture and blankets...aka head pressing. |
Wow...this info is great!! Thank goodness Snick never looks like he is having a seizure, I would get him checked if your pup seems to be seizing!! Mine gets on his back after we take off the harness or clothes as well. And of course, he rubs his face after drinking and eating wet food. Never meant to make light of it, esp if it is serious!! |
Teddi does this...I always figured she was just trying to clean off her face! |
