What do you feed your Yorkie? This was probably asked before, but I can't find a recent thread. So what do you feed your Yorkie? We have fed them Wellness, and now Purina Breed specific. I still give them Wellness treats, and sometimes home-made food. |
I feed raw only. I used to feed Natures Variety and Primal, but am now feeding a local grind. I give mostly bully sticks for teeth. :) |
I feed homecooked at the moment. I have fed Iams, Pedigree canned, Science Diet, Royal Canin and Canidae (not recommending any of them ;)). |
science diet (i think is the brand from the vets) D/D for canines in chicken and egg dry and duck for canned food of the same brand/type this is because mickey has food allergies and we were told to feed him this and this is wihat he's been eating from6 months onwards! he loves it! he's not a big fan of salmon and rice flavour but i belive they discontinued that flavour |
Innova puppy for the young ones, and Innova for my 6 year old.. and sometimes, he gets a bit of Innova Evo wet mixed in with the kibble. hugs, carmen in nj |
We like Blue Buffalo |
Nature's Variety Raw and NV Instinct (grain-free) kibble. |
Solid Gold Just A Wee Bit kibble I've used Purina Pro Plan and Nutro Natural Choice in the past. I use all different sources of treats such as Wellness, Avoderm and Natural Balance. |
I recently noticed that Jakes demodex has been much better after we started feeding him Purina. I hope it's the food and not just a moment before relapse. |
We rotate between Wellness Core and Nature's Variety Instinct for now. I'd like to add Orijen and Taste of the Wild some day. |
I feed Nature's Variety raw medallions |
Orijen 6-fish formula dry and Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet Potato & Duck Small Bites. |
What I feed my yorkie, Spencer! My little boy, well I say little, he's 9 months old, but I feed him Science Diet food. I started out feeding him Biljack?, which was what the breeder suggested, but it gave him an "upset" stomach! I finally staring using the SD because my vet said that yorkies, among other breeds have difficult digestive systems. I've personally found that he loves it and it works great for him! I give him the "wet" SD food only in the mornings and then he eats his dry food the rest of the day, and he loves it! Plus, the wet food in the A.M insures me that he has a good meal and his blood sugar won't drop, since he's not a big eater anyway! Hope this helps! By the way, I'm having him "fixed" tomorrow, so what can I expect from a boy....never had one, yorkie or other! Thanks, and I'm glad I've joined this site! I'm new at this, so any help is welcomed! |
How do I post a Quick reply! Again, I'm new at this! |
I used Innova Evo. Then went to NV raw medallions. I now feed prey model raw that I prepare myself. She's never been healthier. |

My girls get Blue Buffalo now. They seem to enjoy eating it and seem to have great energy levels. |
I feed Natures Variety rotation diet, but I am thinking of switching to Lifes Abundance Kibble and canned and keeping up with the raw medallions. |
Bella came to me on purina (I think) from the breeder. The vet wanted her to be on Science Diet and I didn't know about YT yet, or doing food research. So she was on SD for long enough for me to gradually switch her to Natural Balance which I would rotate her. She started to get bored with NB and seemed to pick up some weight on NB so I switched her to Orijen and has lost a few ounces. I didn't mind if she was a teapot, as long as she was healthy was the most important to me. :D Anyway, as soon as I put the Orijen in her dish, she would flick the NB discs out of her food dish and go for the new food. She loves it and bc it is so high in protein she eats less and seems to be happier. So now she is on Orijen, and she will be rotated with Fromm, Taste of the Wild and possibly Eagle Pack (I think) Holistic. I'm going for the grain free varieties. |
Recently switched to Natures Variety-Instinct-( grainless kibble). So far...so good! |
For kibble I feed mine Solid Gold Wee bites. But I make their food in a processor. A combination of lamb, chicken, rice, vegees, cheese etc. They like it a lot. Also, a couple of teaspoons of yogurt everyday. It has all the probiotics that keep their stomach and their immune system healthy. |
I feed him Nutro Natural Choice and in the morning he gets some canned wet food in the morning of the same brand. |

I feed Life's Abundance! Never recalled! YAY! If you want some free samples - just PM me! |
I feed charlie natural balance duck and potatoe kibbles along with the natural balance turkey roll. I just started mixing in a small amount of hot water to his kibbles. He seems to like it. After he is done with this, i might want to try something else. |

Thats awesome, I loved that food. I think its a great food, but peanut didnt eat the vitamin balls ( dark colored balls) he would eat all of it and leave those behind..so I had to switch :/ |
I just started Lola on Wellness: Small Breeds. She was eating Royal Canin: Special 30, but she was having tummy problems. Thanks to all my YT friends, they helped me to find a better food for my little one, so that hopefully her tummy won't be upset. I might even go one step further and order some special food off the internet, if this Wellness doesn't seem to do the trick. |
